Re: What tennis racquet do u use?

I'm new to tennis. I'm a 23 years old guy, 1.70m tall. I just read that starting off with heavier racquets is better, but what is heavy and what is light? What brands and models would you suggest? Thanks.

Re: What tennis racquet do u use?

I guess if you have never played before or are a beginner I would be looking at starting with a game improving type of racket. That would be a lighter racket with a slightly bigger head size. They give you a little more power are are good/a little more forgiving when your strokes/serve arent right there yet. An example of one would be this Yonex racket. I just chose Yonex because thats the brad I use.

Re: What tennis racquet do u use?

Head Youtek Extreme MP

but thinking of switching. It's a bit too 'framey' for me.

Any thoughts on the Wilson BLX Pro Tour or the Yonex RDiS 200 Midplus?

I've never hit with the Head Extreme before so I can't really compare the two, but the Wilson Pro Tour is definitely a solid choice. When you say the Extreme is too framey, do you mean you think the beam is too thick? Based on the pictures, it look like the Pro Tour less "framey" if that's what you meant.
In terms of how it plays, it's definitely a more control oriented racket, but it looks like you're advanced enough to want something like that It has a really dense string pattern so if you're looking for a less "framey" racket that you'll feel lots of control with, I think this is a good choice!

Re: What tennis racquet do u use?

I need help. I use a Babolat Pure Drive GT and I am about 5'9 young male and only about 140 lbs. I am starting to feel that teh PDGT might be too heavy for me as it is becoming harder and harder for me to control my shots. Although this racket supplies tons of power it is becoming so hard for me to hit effectively. Can anyone help me on choosing a differnt racket that fits my body type and game type (counterpuncher)? Thanks.

Re: What tennis racquet do u use?

I just bought another KFactor KBlade 98 at half the original price. I love this racket. Best racket I've ever had.

Have you played with the KFactor version too? If so, how different is it from the BLX Blade 98? I'm thinking of maybe buying the BLX one next year.

I demoed the K-Factor version a few times, but not enough to give you an accurate judgment on the two...
However, from what I can say, the K-Factor version seemed to be a bit stiffer... the BLX version was softer, and a little more forgiving on shots where I missed the sweetspot. Obviously the BLX version is a little heavier, so that's a plus IMO.

It's funny, I'm actually changing from the BLX Tour.. that racket was just tooo powerful and I would always get chirped for using a "girls stick".. I'm very glad I made the switch though, the BLX Blade 98 is definitely a racket that offers me more control (the 18x20 string pattern) yet I can still generate lots of pace, as opposed to maybe the Blade Tour.

Re: What tennis racquet do u use?

for the past year or so I had been bouncing back and forth between the Wilson KBlade Team and Yonex RDS 003... but now I use the Head Microgel Radical OS and it seems to suit me better than the others.

I love head)))))))

Thanks for that info. I didn't know the BLX was heavier than the KFactor. I just checked in TW and it is indeed heavier by .2 ounces. Is the weight difference noticeable? And the KBlade definitely feels stiffer than other rackets.

I haven't used the BLX Tour but I have used the KTour. I didn't really like the KTour and not because it's a "girls stick" coz I'm a girl myself. I just can't seem to get much control and feel on my shots with it. The KBlade 98 is so much better although it is not as forgiving when you missed the sweetspot and when I first used it I felt that it's much heavier than the rackets I had before. But once I got the groove of playing with it--it's amazing. So much control yet you can still generate much pace in your shots.

Also I noticed the BLX colors are less shiny (compared to KBlade) in the pics. Is it really like that when you got the racket?

Depends on the frame, the Blade Tour and the BLX Tour are have a matte finish... but the Blade 98 has a nice shiny glossy one. If you like shiny, you'll like the Blade 98
