Shady Voting

Wisconsin who is on a 6 match losing streak goes from unranked to ranked #70. Talk about shady voting. This helps out DePaul plus Illinois, Indiana and the rest of sliding Big 10. .

Gets ranking
53. Colorado
61. Brown
70. Wisconsin (lost 6 straight)
73. Boston

Drops ranking
Oregon - 57
Marquette - 69 (won 3 straight)
Oklahoma St. - 70
Boston College - 75

Marquette's reward for winning 3 straight is to get dropped from the rankings while Wisconsin who has lost 6 straight gets punished by getting ranked #70.

I will update this thread. The only status change this week is Arizona.

Since Arizona didn't get massively overrated from their win against #39 Sac. St. their bubble has just burst. Arizona will not be playing in the post season again this year.

#42 Tulsa def. #66 Nebraska 5-2

With one of Tulsa's victories, against #70 Oklahoma St. falling out of the rankings, this win over Nebraska affects Tulsa slightly better than a push.

As of today only

Last 3 in:
#40 Illinois
#41 Indiana
#42 Tulsa

Last 3 out:
#43 FIU
#46 UNLV
#48 UCI

#66 Nebraska def. Oklahoma St. 4-3

A win by Oklahoma St. would have reaquired them a ranking. This loss prevents all the teams that have a win over OSU from getting a rankings boost.

That includes:
#32 Texas A&M
#42 Tulsa
#53 Colorado
#57 BYU
#71 Wichita St.
#72 South Alabama.

Re: At-Large Implications

#38 Boise St. def. Hawaii 7-0

1. Hawaii was the last team that had a chance to significantly pull down Boise St.'s ranking.
2. UNLV jumped from #71 to #46 and Colorado jumped from not ranked to #53. The increase in the rankings for these 2 teams that Boise St. defeated will give them a huge boost in the rankings next week.

So after looking at Boise St.'s resume I'm giving them 1 at-large spot. By my count that leaves 7 at-larges available.

Boise St. is now a lock

Re: At-Large Implications

#73 Boston def. #75 South Florida 5-2

#30 South Carolina def. #15 Arkansas 5-2

#27 Mississippi def. #20 Kentucky 5-2

Florida International defeated all 3 in Boston, South Carolina & Mississippi and will get a big rankings boost in the future. Because of this I will change FIU's status from a weak bubble to a strong bubble team.

FIU upgraded to Strong Bubble team

Re: At-Large Implications

#47 Princeton def. #61 Brown 6-1

#55 Yale def. #47 Princeton 4-3

Looks like the Ivy League will project a three way tie for the automatic bid. Princeton, Yale & Brown all have 1 loss counting towards the conference standings. Wonder what their tie breakers are?

If Princeton with their 4 blue chip recruits can't even win the Ivy League outright than I don't want to see them get an NCAA at-large bid.

Re: At-Large Implications

New Mexico def. #49 Utah 4-3

New Mexico has 11 losses. If they get ranked that would be a rankings boost free for all helping out:

#27 Mississippi
#37 San Diego St.
#38 Boise St.
#44 Pepperdine
#46 UNLV
#53 Colorado
#71 Wichita St.
Oregon
Northern Arizona

Re: At-Large Implications

#40 Illinois def. #65 Minnesota 7-0

Purdue def. #70 Wisconsin 6-1

It would be comical if beating Wisconsin, who had no business getting ranked this week, gets Purdue ranked next week.

#41 Indiana def. #69 Iowa 4-3

Indiana won on a 7-6 third set tie-breaker. IMHO Indiana's level should reflect a lower ranking in the neighborhood of Iowa who itself is about to slide out of the rankings.
