hopefully clay will give us some interesting story lines. sharapova returning? vaidisova winning consecutive matches? ivanovic returning to form?

Yeah I have really lost interest over the last year. If it wasnt for the Williams Sisters I probably wouldnt watch much at all. We are lacking the big personalites and rivalries.

Not at all! This is when we get to see who's 'the best of the rest'.
For Zvonareva, this would be her biggest tournament win ever, and confirmation that she really belongs in that Dementieva/Safina group chasing Serena. For Ivanovic, this win would be the first championship form she's showed since RG.
This tournament, every year, is a chance for everybody else to 'strut their stuff.' Unfortunately, the teenagers didn't show this year, leaving it to the vets to carry the tournament. But that's the story of this year.

No where near as boring as mens tennis I watched federer play karlovic so boring its was ace or less than 4shot rally so boring!!!!! I like womens tennis at the moment anyone can really beat anyone

I am satisfied with the women's tour. I am disgusted with the men's tour.
I have Elena, and if not for her I might not watch at all, but overall I am not bored aside from this tournament.

i have to say it is kinda getting boring. and i think its coz of sharapova not playing, especially her being out of the tour for such a long time. i was amused when i was working at the AO, pretty much everything that was promotional (e.g. program, keyrings, those calico bags, etc.) had masha on it (along with ana, federer, nole and rafa). plus when i was at the AO watching matches and stuff, i was just looking for my faves (that didnt make much sense, did it? lol). its like 'way to go promoting the first GS of the year when masha isnt here to defend her title  ' but i think its also coz of the WS not playing week in, week out. not to mention how shit the IW website is, bring bak pacific life, dammit! 
but overall to sorta contradict (not really, kinda ) wat i've said ^ up there, the game is changing, and thats exciting. u've got the faves such as ivanovic, WS, sharapova, etc. and u've got the other veterans of the game like hantuchova, momo, dementieva, etc. and then there are the young up and comers like azarenka, wozniak, aga, etc. then the occasional big tourney defeat of a seeded player, i.e. Pavlyuchenkova.

If you are into tennis and don't want it to be boring switch to ATP ... WTA has always been boring (one or two matches cannot fix it ... just live with it)
