I know she hasn't done a lot yet, but in the time that she has been noticed around here, she has done some good things.
- Qualified for Kawana 25k, beating Benita Milenkiewicz, before losing in the opening round in 3 sets to Robin Stephenson (Sep 08)
- Beat Monika Wejnert in 3 sets to win the Wynumm Open (Oct 08)
- Beat Viktorija Rajicic and Tanya Samodelok to win first ITF Junior Title in NSW (Oct 08)
- Lost R1 WA 25k to Marinne Giraud (as a wildcard) (Nov 08)
- Took Noppawan Lertcheewakarn (World No.1 Junior) to 3 sets in Traralgon juniors (Jan 09)
- Took six games off Laura Robson (World No.2 Junior) in Nottinghill juniors (Jan 09)
- Took Lauren Embree (top ten junior) to 3 sets in second round of Junior AO (Jan 09)
- Lost R1 Sydney 25k to Yi Miao Zhou (as a wildcard) (Apr 09)

With her third ITF MD appearance in Sydney, Letcher will achieve a WTA Ranking when the new rankings are released on Monday.

Sophie was born on 29 Nov 1992, so she is turning 17 this year.
She trains at the Pro One Tennis Academy on the Gold Coast.

She got a very similar game to Alize Cornet but less powerful

I think she can be a solid top 200/250 player. Might get a shot at the Aussie MD once in her career. She won't be a star, but she can be a solid ITF player, if you catch my drift

Sophie debuted on WTA Singles Rankings at No.1132 this week.
If she plays a decent ITF Women's Circuit schedule for the rest of the year, she could be top 700

Can't believe she doesn't have a thread! Sophie had an excellent 2010 finishing ranked #339.

She is playing in Sydney Qualies against Varvara Lepchenko. Tough match against the world no.79, but she is up 1-0* with an easy first service game

I was really impressed with Sophie's results last year. The only tournaments she played were the Aussie ITFs but she had some great results and beat quite a few international players ranked quite a bit higher than her: Yurika Sema, Junri Namigata, Lisa Whybourn, Lauren Albanese, Melanie South.

I've never seen her play but obviously she has the game and mental strength to take it to these girls, and still only 18!

I was hoping she'd do okay against Lepchenko but a 7-6 *1-2 she exceeded my expectations! A very nice WTA debut already! Now finish her off Sophie and get the win!
