I'm surprised there wasn't a thread for this promising Romanian, so I made one. Here it is:
Date of Birth: 26/08/1990
Birthplace: Bucharest, Romania
Residence: Bucharest, Romania
Current Singles Rank: 228(Career-High)
Current Doubles Rank: 358(Career-High)
Lost in the first round of dubs with Niculescu 75 46 36 but has a very good draw for a medal in mixt. First time ever she plays mixt... but good luck to Irina, they should be a very solid team
Rio Olympic Games
Mixt Doubles Main Draw
(1)Garcia/Mahut (FRA) v. Pereira/Melo (BRA)
Mattek-Sands/Sock (USA) v. Konta/J. Murray (GBR)
(3)Muguruza/Nadal (ESP) v. Hradecka/Stepanek (CZE)
A. Radwasnka/Kubot (POL) v. Begu/Tecau (ROU)
Monica needs a new back. That's why she wasn't with Irina and Raluca at the men doubles match. She knew she isn't playing and wasn't in the mood to watch.
Lost in the QF to Hradecka/Stepanek 46 57 Tecau came directly from that heart-breaking loss in dubs final. Idk, maybe without that day lost because of the rain things would have been different...
What the hell? I just came home to find her result in R1 and she just starts to play it now streamed
4 hours later she is supposed to chase Domi in R2 at 1.30 Romania time? Am I right? Poor girl
Irina has a lot of work tonight
Looked kinda bad for a while at the end of the first and start of the second but Irina managed to bring the match to a decider So far her serve helped her out, won some important points with good serves... hopefully this will go smooth in the third also

So far... You kinda jinxed her. 48% on first serve in the 3rd and a break down after being a break up in the beginning of it. This is a match she should have won. :[
Weird third set from Irina... at times she looked like she cared about winning this but most of the time she wasn't even running after balls, just looking bored out of her mind on court, waiting for the match to be over
Funny how they scheduled this match as the main event of the day, last on CC... they know about the fierce Begu - Garcia rivalry in NH  Still remember those two matches from 2014 and I'm sure @ioana_sk8r does even better
Scarred for life from those 3hr+ matches . I was convinced Garcia-Begu was a type-o for the main draw match back in 2014 since I couldn't wrap my head around them playing each other again. So evenly matched -it was insane.
^ Well, this one was only 1h22, so for once a short encounter between the two. Unfortunately Irina was at the losing end 1-6 4-6.
Maybe it was a bit unlucky to get Garcia in a tournament where half of the seeds withdrew and half of MD is made up of LL, Q & WC's. But Garcia hasn't showed anything relevant recently either, so I didn't expect such a beatdown. My hopes for USO are pretty low now. Is there any health problem? Or not working with the right coach lately? I know she works with a team of coaches... but did anyone track if her good or bad runs were when she was accompanied by one or another of them?
^ Normally I would say "good draw". But given her latest form, I think we can easily fear Tsurenko. And even AVU. With Cibu being most likely end of the road (if by some miracle she makes it that far). I pray to be wrong.
