Re: Heather Watson

I found it strange that Heather and her coach stopped working with each other. It seemed like she was getting good results under him so why change?

Re: Heather Watson

he wasn't a full time coach, to my knowledge.
she is based at bollitieri so predominantly uses the coaches supplied there.

Re: Heather Watson

I am not sure either. Reading some of the interviews from Australia I believe Heather said that he had been her full time coach.

Re: Heather Watson

The only thing I know is that recently she said he was her traveling coach, but not full time coach.

In other news, Heather has been training for clay at Miami and is now headed to South Carolina.

Hmm. Heather usually seems fairly good at beating the players she should beat, so fingers crossed...

Re: Heather Watson

^True, but this is clay. And that usually throws up some surprises.

P.S. Her match starts at 6pm uk time, approx.

Re: Heather Watson

she won 7-5 6-1
looks like she played better as the match went on
maybe she made adjustments or simply felt more at home on the clay after 45 mins.

if her next opp (wienerova) is a clay court specialist, i have a feeling it could be a bit hairy.

Re: Heather Watson

Most of Wienerova's ITF finals and titles have been on clay:

So, should be interesting...

Not expecting a win against Wienerova- but Heather is capable of pulling out a victory..

Re: Heather Watson

Victory it is for Heather, 6-1 7-6(2) very impressive scoreline after yesterday's little wobble in the first set. So impressed with how she composed herself after being 5-3 down in the second set and coming back to stay calm in the tiebraker with she raced to a 5-1 lead and eventually finished it off. So encouraging, second time she has qualified for Charleston now i think ??

But it will be a tough match for all of the qualifiers in the main draw, possible opponents include mattek sands, zheng, rybarikova and...... Peng Hopefully Heather will get either Riske or McHale, two very beatable players. Looking forward to see who she will face Congrats on making the main draw Hev
