Will reach #3 ranking if:
-she does 1 round better then serena after both reach third round, and venus , vera does not win the title.
-she does 1 round better then safina after both reach semifinal.

Definetly. She has a very hard draw.

Her next match is against a big server who´s the homecrowd favourite. So she´ll be on Rod Laver Arena in a night match slugging it out with 100% of the crowd against her.

Then she has to face cibulkova who´s been very impressive, in the shape of her life. Besides that, she´s a great mover. Something lena has struggles against in the past and she lost their last match.

And then it´s venus, who´s a big server AND great mover.

Elena has to surpass the elena from last year if she wants to get through this draw and get a career high ranking.

Now that jelena is out, we know certain scenarios. Jelena is likely to lose no.1 now. She will lose no.1 if dinara makes the semifinal or elena/serena make the final.

This means:
-If dinara, elena,serena win the title they are no.1 for sure!

The one who benefits most is Elena Dementieva, since if she makes the final and dinara doesn't make the final she's no.1 as well!
