I thought this was a kind'a tricky draw for a 50k, for Mel to win without dropping a set is an excellent showing, great turn around from this summer.
Now Phoenix, otherwise known as "that tournament where Mel will not be drawing BMS"

And I'm not surprised by that in any way. When it comes to getting crap draws, Mel has skills that kill.
This is a little sign from karma telling Mel that if she wants to progress there are a couple of hurtles she will have to get over. Beth is one of those. So for god's sake, at least win a set this time Mel.

Tough ask then.  I love both and would be happy with either winner. Win or lose this match, the 50k win last week will be a very positive note for Melanie's season.

Aside from her singles match with BMS, Melanie and Maria play on center court today. It is the last match on center. I believe it will have live scores! GL Melanie and Maria!!
