Możemy stracić talent na miarę Radwańskiej

Polski tenis jest poważnie chory - to prawdziwa, choć na pozór absurdalna teoria.

Z jednej strony nasi zawodnicy odnoszą sukcesy, o jakich jeszcze niedawno mogliśmy tylko pomarzyć. Agnieszka Radwańska jest 10. na świecie, Mariusz Fyrstenberg i Marcin Matkowski grają właśnie w turnieju Masters Cup. Z drugiej jednak: tworzona z mozołem przez ostatnie lata budowla właśnie chwieje się w posadach. Powód? Brak sponsorów, który uderza w naszą zdolną młodzież.
Joanna Nalborska ma 15 lat, niektórzy porównują ją do Agnieszki Radwańskiej. Na razie na wyrost, niemniej analogii pomiędzy nią a najlepszą obecnie polską zawodniczką jest sporo. Ona też pochodzi z tenisowej rodziny (grali oboje jej rodzice).

Podobnie jak jej starsza o cztery lata koleżanka ogrywa swoje rówieśniczki we wszystkich kategoriach wiekowych. Tak jak Agnieszka, zwycięża przede wszystkim głową, a nie muskułami.
W 2006 roku zawodniczka warszawskiej Mery została najmłodszą w historii finalistką jednego z najbardziej znanych w Polsce turniejów dla młodzieży - Tomaszewski Cup. Miała 13 lat (turniej jest do 16!).

Rok później znów grała w finale, a tego lata udało jej się wreszcie wygrać na kortach Warszawianki. Tak jak cztery lata temu Radwańskiej, która kilka miesięcy później podpisała indywidualną umowę sponsorską z firmą Prokom i mogła wyruszyć na podbój świata (w 2005 roku wygrała juniorski Wimbledon). Nalborska może o tym tylko pomarzyć, bo firma Ryszarda Krauzego właśnie wycofuje się z finansowania polskiego tenisa (również z piłki nożnej, koszykówki i siatkówki). Przestanie więc istnieć wspierający naszych zawodników program PZT Prokom Team.

- Program przetrwa, choć w okrojonym stopniu. W przyszłości zamierzamy skupić się przede wszystkim na tenisie juniorskim. Zawodowcy będą musieli niestety radzić sobie sami - przyznaje dyrektor sportowy Polskiego Związku Tenisowego Wojciech Andrzejewski. Oznacza to, że Nalborska i jej podobne mogą tylko pomarzyć o wsparciu, jakie miały na początku dorosłej kariery siostry Radwańskie czy debel Fyrstenberg - Matkowski (czyli od 60 do nawet 300 tys. zł rocznie).

- Dla nas to katastrofa, bo Prokom był jedyną polską firmą, która angażowała się w takim zakresie w finansowanie sportu. Inni, szczególnie w Warszawie, wolą przyjść na gotowe i podpisać kontrakt z gwiazdą, zawodnicy na dorobku ich nie interesują - mówi ojciec tenisistki Wojciech Nalborski. - Ktoś może pomyśleć, że przewróciło nam się w głowach, ale to nieprawda. Na zachodzie Europy tysiące firm pomaga młodym i zdolnym sportowcom. Poza tym ludzie chyba nie zdają sobie do końca sprawy, jak drogim sportem jest tenis - dodaje.

Miesięczne utrzymanie zawodniczki na poziomie Nalborskiej to ok. 15 tys. zł miesięcznie. Tyle kosztuje opłacenie dwóch trenerów (jeden od przygotowania fizycznego), sprzętu, odżywek itd. Koszty rosną lawinowo, gdy zaczynają się wyjazdy na zagraniczne turnieje. Można oczywiście zaoszczędzić na trenerach i grać tylko w Polsce, ale wtedy szanse na dorównanie najlepszym spadają do zera.

- Mnie nie interesuje przeciętniactwo. Za kilka lat chcę być w światowej czołówce, tak jak Agnieszka Radwańska i Marta Domachowska. Stać mnie na to - mówi Joanna Nalborska. Nie tylko ona ma problemy. Podczas wrześniowego turnieju Pekao Open w Szczecinie przeprowadziłem niemal identyczną rozmowę z rodzicami Jerzego Janowicza (finalisty juniorskich Roland Garros i US Open). Pamiętam oburzenie, gdy ich syn stwierdził po awansie do półfinału, że brak sponsorów może go zmusić nawet do… zmiany obywatelstwa.

- Łatwo jest kogoś potępiać, ja tam doskonale rozumiem jego rozterki. Nie ukrywam, że gdyby moja córka dostała ofertę z zagranicy, to poważnie bym się zastanowił - przyznaje tata Nalborskiej. - Jesteśmy bardzo blisko czołówki, a moja córka wkracza właśnie w najbardziej rozwojowy dla tenisistki wiek.

Najbliższe trzy lata zdecydują o tym, czy zrobi karierę, czy też zagubi się w polskiej przeciętności, tak jak wiele jej starszych koleżanek. Zaznaczam, że nie chcemy żadnej jałmużny, interesuje nas współpraca na normalnych biznesowych zasadach, która przyniesie korzyści obu stronom. Dajcie nam szansę - mówi na koniec.

Asia doesn't have much money to play tournaments outside Poland. Next one is probably G4 ITF Junior tournament in Gdynia.
