Are you satisfied with the WTA ranking system?
Obviously, the ideal ranking system not only provides a way for tournaments to seed players, but also shows which player is currently the best in the world. Do you think the current ranking system does a good job in this regard?

Re: Are you satisfied with the WTA ranking system?
Yes, because my 1st/2nd favourite player is NO.1. Works for me

Re: Are you satisfied with the WTA ranking system?
Pretty much. Plenty of points are awarded to winners of big titles.
I'd perhaps like to see consistency rewarded a little more though. Maybe a few more points for QF's and SF's.

Re: Are you satisfied with the WTA ranking system?
well obviously winning paris indoors should be points wise up there with winning a slam but aside from that its ok.
the ranking system seems fair to me as it is.

Re: Are you satisfied with the WTA ranking system?
Well there are a few obvious flaws:
- You should only be able to enter the top two if you have a female tennis playing sibling.
- Only someone with a surname beginning with the letter W can be ranked number one.
- Beating anyone with the initials SW or VW means 1,000 points are automatically deducted.

Re: Are you satisfied with the WTA ranking system?
WTA ranking system works almost perfectly this season, especially between June and August, but than something wrong happen...
I hope new ranking system (since 2009 new roadmap) will be better and better during new season.

Re: Are you satisfied with the WTA ranking system?
well I don't really care about the ranking, I do thing that big titles should give more points to the winner at least...sometimes there is not enough difference btw a 2nd round and a SF...Anyway I've always tought that the ranking din't mean alot, it's good to see the potential of a player, like top 50-top30-top20-top10-top5..but other than that

Re: Are you satisfied with the WTA ranking system?
I miss quality points also.
However, I'm rather bored of the ranking system being re-designed every time someone's favourite player isn't at no.1.
The idea of the number 1 ranking representing the 'best player in the world' is an outdated one. People need to accept that - it's pretty clear that the players did long ago.

So true. They need BIGGER points for BIGGER wins. Quality over quantity is what the tour lacks in its point system

Re: Are you satisfied with the WTA ranking system?
It's ok.
The rankings are based on the leval of play you showed during the last year. Not on what you're to do at your ultimate peak.

Re: Are you satisfied with the WTA ranking system?
There is no way to exactly quantify how good each player is.
Is Sharapova the 9th best player?
When she plays bad, like at Wimbledon. Then she's worse than 9.
When she plays well, like the AO, she's better than 9.
This is a 52 week ranking, and every player is under the same system.
I don't see any problem with it.

A non GS winner finishing #1 doesn't make sense to me.
