Suicide Tennis | Ranking Points Distribution (2009) |
2009 Ranking Points Distribution
The following are the ranking point distributions for the new tier system:
Slams, YEC, Mandatories, Premier 5, Premiums, Internationals.
(When the points were inflated in 2007, the tables were never updated. The new points will reflect accurate winner points.)

Day 5: QF.
Day 6: SF.
Day 7 No Pick: Finalist.
Day 7 Invalid: Finalist + 40% of difference between Final/Winner.
Winner: Champion points.
For Slams and mandatories, the formula is slightly adjusted to include multiple rounds.

Re: Suicide Tennis | Ranking Points Distribution (2009) |
Any questions, please ask. These are open to change and discussion.
As per the 2009 ranking rules, the YEC becomes mandatory for all those who qualify. So Sjoerd, I guess all those who qualified in 2008 will have that be a mandatory amount configured in their totals.
To assimilate to 2008, all totals should be simply doubled like the real WTA tour. Indian Wells and Miami were always mandatories so that does not change. Like Sjoerd said, Madrid and Beijing can be mandatory once they are played.
However, the other changes are way too complicated such as Top 10 player requirements and their rankings being configured differently. Sjoerd said it in the other thread correctly, we can do the 4 Slams + 4 mandatories + Best 8 others. (For 2008 YEC qualifiers, best 7 others).
If I am leaving anything out, let me know.
Of course, this is all in theory for now. The WTA changes things so often. If an instant change is needed, we'll fix it.

Sjoerd, will it be difficult for you to configure an Internationals Only race?
The rules to qualify for this "B" YEC are for the top 10 qualifiers in this race who did not qualify for the "A" YEC.
YEC points posted. No "B" points listed yet, will post once WTA publishes.

Just moving this conversation here:

The ranking system for 2009 is:
AO

Wimbledon
USO
IW
Miami
Madrid
Beijing
+ the 8 best results in other tournaments.
Beijing and Madrid will become mandatory at the moment the are played. NOT earlier.

Agreed. Even though we cannot account for the Premier 5 due to the varying rules and complications, they will most likely be the ones counted into everyone's rankings due to the immense amount of points compared to the other events. The math will figure itself out to make them figurative mandatories.

The 8 tournaments are mandatory for all players.
The WTA has the rule that it's only mandatory for Maindraw players.
For Suicide that will be the same then. Everyone is in the maindraw, so it counts for everyone.

You mean: 1-8 is Doha and 9-18 is Bali?
I just make 1 RACE rankings. Colours will do the work there.

Supposedly it just counts for International events but I've heard conflicting stories. 9-18 sounds fine.

I dont know if this help but from the WTA website, under the tournament/Road to Bali link it states: The highest-ranked 10 players who have captured at least one International tournament during the year and who are not participating in singles at the year-end Sony Ericsson Championships - Doha 2009 will qualify for the event, along with two wildcards.
Would this be too hard to do??? i assume that the wildcard would be out of the ? and most of the 9-18 ranked ppl would get in... but just to clarify your confusion on the subject.

Yeah, the only thing is the "who have won an international title". Since Suicide isn't always necessarily about winning the title, this criteria may be not good for the game.
9-18 in the regular race could work. We can see in a month or so how it shapes up.

The best of all International tournaments can also work. It will just be another ranking but that won't be a problem.

Re: Suicide Tennis | Ranking Points Distribution (2009) |
Apparently 12 make it to Bali. So we can do the Top 10 in the Bali Race. And # 9 and 10 in the YEC Race as our hypothetical 2 WCs like the WTA would use.

Re: Suicide Tennis | Ranking Points Distribution (2009) |
2009 has a shorter season than 2008. Normally the results of the last 52 weeks counts, but in this situation it´s not possible. Australian Open was 1 week earlier than 2008 and the US Open is 1 week LATER than 2008. Then also the season ends 1 week earlier, which means we have only 7 weeks to go after the US Open instead of 9.
With the points off it can be pretty confusing, so I´ll show you here when the points come off.

Re: Suicide Tennis | Ranking Points Distribution (2009) |
I was looking for Ranking Points fopr Bali and found this... Not to sure on how reliable it is but...
Quote:

This would make ranking points as such:
Code:
RR (0) - 70
RR (1) - 160
RR (2)/SF - 250
*Finalist - 420
*Winner - 610
(* = Underfeated)
Anyway, I decieded to try and work out your system (ITZ) for ranking points for Suicide YEC and addapt this to Bali... I came up with:
Code:
1- RR (0)
2- RR (0) + 40% RR (1)
3- RR (1)
4- SF
5NP- Finalist
5I- Finalist + 40% Winner
5W- Winner
Giving Suicide Ranking points for Bali (If aboved WTA points are correct):
Code:
1- 70
2- 106
3- 160
4- 250
5NP- 420
5I- 496
5W- 610
But my problem with this is I dont see why we have a Day 5 No Pick (ie. Day 6 in Doha) as if the picks are reset at the SF you are garenteed to have a pick in the final (assuming the player you pick wins the SF) as then you pick the winner of the other SF in the final... and i think that as a tournament this WOULD be harder to choose the SF winner/Final loser to gain all points and as such I think we should cut out the last day NP and have the finalist points as the last day invalid... Giving even more incentive win the tournament instead of haveing last day invalid. ie (for Bali):
Code:
1- RR (0)
2- RR (0) + 40% RR (1)
3- RR (1)
4- SF
5I- Finalist
5W- Winner
Making the ranking points:
Code:
1- 70
2- 106
3- 160
4- 250
5I- 420
5W- 610
Any thoughts???
