Racquet Question

On my racquet the black guard (which I've labelled in the picture above) is starting to snap/crack. Is this repairable by getting a new guard or do I have to buy a new racquet?

Thanks

Re: Racquet Question

Well the problem is that if you just glue it it gets heaver on that side and the balance gets thrown off... I don't know about buying a new thingie up there, I've never heard about such a thing.

How old is the racket?

Re: Racquet Question

That black guard is known as grommets. They price anywhere from $5 to $15 but you would also have to get your racket restrung.

If your grommets are wearing thin it might be because you are scraping the racket against the ground too often. As a former tennis instructor I'd say scraped grommets indicate poor stroke technique. Ex. On low balls instead of dropping your racket head try to keep your same swing with your racket level but bend your knees more to hit the low ball.

I'm going to my tennis store tomorrow and I'll see if I can have it replaced

I need a restringing, so it could work out perfectly

Thanks for the advice

Anymore advice anyone?

Re: Racquet Question

I went to the store and the owner just taped it so more damage won't be done. He said once I wear out my strings, he'll put a new one on

Problem solved

Re: Racquet Question

Can't help you with that question, but you might want to reach out to one of my favorite online sites for sports accessories. I get gloves, headbands, custom wristbands, sunscreens, etc. from them. The service is second to none!
