Pennetta, Bolelli to represent Italy at Hopman Cup
AUSTRALIA: In-form Italian Flavia Pennetta will team up with Simone Bolelli to represent Italy at the Hopman Cup in January, organisers said o
n Friday.
Pennetta, 26, is ranked 14th in the world and was the fourth top-20 woman announced for the unique mixed-teams event.
She has won two tournaments this year and was a beaten finalist in the Zurich Open last weekend, losing to American Venus Williams.
Bolelli, 23, currently enjoys a career-high singles ranking of 42 and is also a competent doubles player.
Italy have never won the Hopman Cup, which this year will be held on January 3-9.
The Italians join the Slovak Republic's Dominik Hrbaty and Dominika Cibulkova, German duo Sabine Lisicki and Nicolas Kiefer, France's Alize Cornet and Gilles Simon, A ustralia's Casey Dellacqua and Lleyton Hewitt and Russia's Dinara Safina and Marat Safin in the eight-nation field.
One more team, expected to be the USA, will be announced at the draw on October 28, with the eighth spot in the field to be taken by the winner of the Asian Hopman Cup in Kazakhstan in early November.

Cool  they are gonna be a great team 
i love hopman cup its so much fun. and the fact that they are mixing the team choices up is sooo great i still cant get over the german choice though. kiwi  but he's good at doubles so thats sumfin.

Simone and Flavia is a great team! I never even thought about Italy as a team, I remember the days Sanguinetti was representing them. Good times.
Wasn't Bolelli banned from competing for Italy by their tennis federation, I would have thought this would come under that rule?
