Mona played like Ivanovic with a backhand today. I totally expected her to counterpunch but instead she was blasting winners left and right (as well as errors, though). I don't think she moves as well on clay as on other surfaces. Still, she's a player nobody likes to face. I do think only Lisicki at her very best (which she hardly reaches) is better than Barthel (among all five Germans).

Her game is really very smooth and watchable. I love her serve and bh. And something about the way she carries herself is rather elegant. She leaks errors at times though, especially on the fh. It is more and more looking like Germany should have gone for her over the other rusty or sick players in the Fed Cup singles.

Great win for Mona!
She has great potential,can play some awesome tennis and is also able to change her game if needed, really interesting to watch there!
But she is still inconsistent,too many errors here and there, especially on her fh and her serve isn´t always working as well,but today her 1st serve was definitely a weapon, especially in the most important situations.
Coming back from 3-5 in 1st set and winning the TB of 2nd set although Ivanovic looked much more comfortable on her service games during this set. I hope she gets better and better with more experience, such matches will definitely help her again although clay isn´t her best surface for sure!
We´ll see what she can do against Bartoli, will be tough and I don´t expect her to win but she will have her chances as well for sure!
