Re: Tereza Mrdeza cheering thread

More good luck for Tereza: In the SF she should be playing Cohen (#1 seed and Tereza's doubles partner) but Cohen lost to Tabak. Tabak is unseeded and ranked over 200 spots lower than Cohen.

The bad news is that Tabak is on a 13-match winning streak in Paraguay, winning the $10Ks in Asuncion the past two weeks. Hopefully Tereza can break her streak

Re: Tereza Mrdeza cheering thread

Btw, this should be just enough to get Tereza back into the top 300--for the first time since May 2010.

She'll be getting very close to her CH ranking (279) and she's playing again next week so she has a good chance to break it. That would be a really satisfying way for her to end the year, especially after the horrow show that was her 2010 season. It appears that back then she just couldn't cope with the pressure of being a top 300 player.

Re: Tereza Mrdeza cheering thread

After beating the top seeds, Tereza and partner are now into the doubles final:

SF: COHEN (USA) / MRDEZA (CRO) (4) defeated ALVES (BRA) / SEGNINI (BRA) (1) 6-4 7-6(2)

In the final they play the #2 seeds, Auroux/Irigoyen. Good luck!

She would be much luckier if she played against Cohen IMO.

However good luck to Tereza!

Unfortunately you were probably right. Tereza lost to Tabak 76(2) 62

Still, it was a very good week for Tereza--and she still has the doubles final to play tomorrow.

For next week she's on the entry list for a $10K in Chile.

Re: Tereza Mrdeza cheering thread

Tereza won the doubles!

Final: COHEN (USA) / MRDEZA (CRO) (4) defeated AUROUX (ARG) / IRIGOYEN (ARG) (2) 6-3 2-6 [10-5]

I'm pretty sure this is the best doubles result of her career, and it'll push her to a new CH ranking.

Re: Tereza Mrdeza cheering thread

$25K Rosario, R1: Tereza MRDEZA (CRO) defeated Tina SCHIECHTL (AUT) 6-0 6-3

Convincing win, considering Schiechtl was one of the highest-ranked unseeded players and had won a $10K the week before.

Unfortunately, Tereza plays the top seed, Cohen, in R2. Good luck!

Re: Tereza Mrdeza cheering thread

$25K Buenos Aires, R1: Tereza Mrdeza (CRO) d. (Q)Carla Lucero (ARG) 63 75

In R2 she plays Irigoyen, who beat the #5 seed, Fernandez-Brugues. If Tereza wins it's very possible that she'll reach a new CH ranking.
Good luck!

Re: Tereza Mrdeza cheering thread

$25K Buenos Aires, R2: Tereza Mrdeza (CRO) d. Maria Irigoyen (ARG) 16 62 62

It's a good win as Irigoyen had a CH ranking of 167 just last year. Also, it should be barely sufficient to give Tereza a new CH ranking. Either way, it has already been a good tournament for her.

Tomorrow in the QF she plays Vaisemberg, who beat the #4 seed, Cepede Royg. Good luck!

It was a good decision for Tereza to travel to South America: she got 24 points in Asuncion, 8 in Rosario and now 14 in Buenos Aires.

$25K Buenos Aires, QF: Tereza Mrdeza (CRO) d. Roxane Vaisemberg (BRA) 64 61

Tereza is now guaranteed to end the year with a new CH ranking

In the SF she'll play either Cohen (#1 seed) or Ferrer-Suarez (#7 seed). Good luck, Tereza--but it has already been a successful tournament for you either way!

Cohen it is. Their H2H is 1-1. They played in October and Tereza won by retirement while she was leading 64 41. They played again in Rosario last month and Cohen won a close one, 6-7(4) 6-4 6-4. Still, Cohen is ranked more than 100 spots higher (#183) so she's clearly the favorite.

With today's win, Tereza will move to ~270 (her CH is 279). This is a really nice way for her to wind down the year. She had a horrible 2010 (her W-L was 5-15) and she started 2011 ranked at almost #800 (she's 49-18 so far this year).

She's got one more tournament this year, a $25K next week in Chile. She'll be seeded so it'll be a good opportunity to pick up some more points.

She's defending very few points until June so she has a decent chance to make RG and Wimbledon qualies

Nice result indeed, let's see how she would do against Cohen.
Good luck!
