Up by almost 100 points compared to pre-Eastbourne The extra 30 points from Wimbledon keeps her where she is ATM in the rankings, but hopefully when points are updated some of the people above her will have lost enough to go down.

Re: Caroline's Ranking Breakdown

Here's a list of how many points players ranked #11-#16 have to gain more than Caro does for the rest of the year in order to stay ahead of Caro in the rankings. I got these #s by taking the difference in current ranking points for this week and subtracting the different in points to defend for the rest of the year.

#16 Pennetta 143
#15 Azarenka 135
#14 Bartoli 293
#13 Chakvetadze 111
#12 Schnyder -29
#11 Hantuchova 491

The -29 means that Caro must gain 29 more points than Patty does for the rest of the year in order to pass her in the rankings.

So far this year Caro has gained more points (YEC race) than all those players except Patty, gained more points per tournament (YEC race) than all those players, and has a higher winning % for the year than all those players.

There are three players behind Caro who seem to have a shot at possibly passing her in the rankings: Cornet, Petrova, and Cibulkova.

#18 Cornet 88
#20 Petrova 238
#21 Cibulkova 286

Both Cornet and Petrova have only 13 results really counted in their best 17 results (they have four 1 point results included). So they can add points from 4 tournaments without having to earn more points than their 17th best result to gain in gain in their overall ranking points.

So far this year Caro has gained more points (YEC race) than all 3 players, gained more points per tournament (YEC race) than all 3 players, and has a higher winning % than all 3 players.

#19 Vaidisova and #22 Szavay are slumping and have a lot of points to defend anwyay. Everybody else needs to outgain Caro by at least 350 points for the rest of the season which seems unlikely.

Caro is 10th in YEC race points per tournament after Miami. For comparison, Caro ended last year at 13th in the YEC and 13th in YEC race points per tournament, 1 below her season ending ranking of 12. It should be kept in mind that if Sharapova had been playing she'd almost certainly have more YEC race points and more YEC race points per tournament.

Caro's 16th best result in her "best 16" ranking is 120 points, so Caro has to earn more than that at a tournament in order to increase her ranking points.

Caro has won 72% (18-7) of her matches of her matches as of the end of Miami. She's won 74% (20-7) of her matches if you count Fed Cup (wins over Azarenka and Mayr).

Caro has the 10th best winning % for the year for players ranked inside the top 100 based on Wta level events only as of the end of Miami. She's 9th if you count only players ranked inside the top 30 or the YEC race top 30. Caro has the 6th best winning % for the year for top 30 ranked players or the YEC race top 30 as of the end of Miami if you count her two wins in Fed Cup.

Caro is 10th in points per tournament played among the YEC race top 50 after the French Open. For comparison, Caro was 13th in points per tournament played among the YEC race top 50 last year, 1 below her year end ranking of 12. The Wta now includes 0 point results in the YEC race so I excluded the 0 point results to come up with points per tournament played.

Caro's 16th best result in her "best 16" ranking is 140 points points, so Caro has to earn more than that at a tournament in order to increase her ranking points.

Caro has won 76% (37-12) of her matches as of the end of the French Open. She's won 76% (39-12) of her matches if you count Fed Cup (wins over Azarenka and Mayr).

Caro has the 10th best winning % for the year for players ranked inside the top 100 based on Wta level events only as of the end of the French Open. She's 8th if you count only players ranked inside the top 50 or the YEC race top 50. Caro has the 8th best winning % for the year for top 50 ranked players or the YEC race top 50 as of the end of the French Open if you count her two wins in Fed Cup.

(I modified the Wta win/loss rankings document that came out after Birmingham to exclude that week's matches as the Wta never uploaded the same file after the French Open. I also corrected the order to be based on winning % as the rankings were sometimes not ordered that way in the original file.)

Re: Caroline's Ranking Breakdown

Here's a list of points players ranked #5-20 have to defend after the French Open. The first # in parenthesis indicates the player's 16th best result, which is the amount of points a player has to earn more than at a tournament to actually increase their ranking points (assuming they're not defending points and it's not a mandatory tournament). The 2nd # in parenthesis, if there is one, indicates the # of non 1 point results in a player's "best 16" ranking. No 2nd parenthesis means that none of the results in a player's "best 16" ranking are 1 point results.

5 Kuznetsova 2090 (120 points)
6 Jankovic 4390 (220 points)
7 Zvonareva 2900 (280 points)
8 Azarenka 1506 (60 points)

9 Caro 2060 (140 points)

10 Petrova 3160 (140 points)
11 Aga Radwanska 2170 (120 points)
12 Bartoli 1870 (120 points)
13 Ivanovic 1570 (70 points) (15 results)
14 Cibulkova 1500 (70 points)
15 Pennetta 1960 (100 points)
16 Zheng 1556 (30 points) (15 results)
17 Mauresmo 1110 (70 points) (14 results)
18 Stosur 898 (28 points)
19 Medina Garrigues 1030 (60 points)
20 Li 1040 (60 points) (14 results)

Here's the ranking points for players ranked #5-20 after the French Open:

5 Kuznetsova 6191
6 Jankovic 6100
7 Zvonareva 5360
8 Azarenka 4746

9 Caro 4350

10 Petrova 3760
11 Aga Radwanska 3411
12 Bartoli 3285
13 Ivanovic 3172
14 Cibulkova 3065
15 Pennetta 2860
16 Zheng 2603
17 Mauresmo 2549
18 Stosur 2428
19 Medina Garrigues 2140
20 Li 2114

Caro needs to gain 1811 more points than Kuznetsova does after the French Open in order to pass her in the rankings, 170 points more to pass Zvonareva, and 950 points more to pass Azarenka. Jankovic has to outgain Caro by 580 points after the French Open in order to stay ahead of her in the rankings. Kuznetsova, Zvonareva, and Azarenka have all so far earned more points per tournament played in 2009 than Caro. Caro has so far earned more points per tournament played in 2009 than Jankovic.

Caro has to be outgained by 875 points after the French Open to be passed by Bartoli in the rankings, 688 points to be passed by Ivanovic, 725 points to be passed by Cibulkova, 851 points to be passed by Mauresmo, and760 points to be passed by Stosur. All the others have to outgain Caro by more than 1000 points after the French Open in order to pass her in the rankings. Caro has so far earned more points per tournament played in 2009 than players ranked #10-20 except Ivanovic. Ivanovic has so far earned more points per tournament played in 2009 than Caro.

I got the points to pass or be passed by subtracting Caro's points to defend after the French Open and the other player's points to defend after the French Open, by subtracting Caro's ranking points and the other player's ranking points, and then subtracting the difference in points to defend from the difference in ranking points.

Re: Caroline's Ranking Breakdown

I think these are interesting and usefull collected here.
Especially "Here's a breakdown of Caro's ranking points after the US Open:" as I can see easier how a the next results will affect her ranking.
1 thing have you ever concidered using the ["code"]value["/code"] vB Code Without the " "
Code:
AAAA AA AA AA
BBBBB B BB BB
as it preserves the spacing or one can put more spaces in and it makes it easier to read the long lists.

I'm sure you know TBE's WTA Ranks Update Thread
I think that's usefull too, as I don't have to wait to the next Monday too see how she is doing.
