Ranking breakdown Tsveti
Tsveti currently has 579 points.
These are constituted from the points gathered at the 5 mandatory tournaments (Slams+Miami) and then the 12 best results from other tournaments, WTA or ITF.
Here's Tsvetana's situation:
Code:
Roland Garros 2007 2
Wimbledon 2007 2
US Open 2007 91
Austr. Open 2008 60
Miami (mand.) 2008 1
156 points for these with definitive room for improvement, especially in RG and Wimbledon. A 2nd round in both would win her 116 points.
The best 12 of the other tournaments :
Code:
Rome 2008 125
ITF-2007-Bordeaux-20070916 2007 75
Stockholm 2007 50
Antwerp 2008 50
Indian Wells 2008 25
Istanbul 2007 20
ITF-2007-Biella-20070715 2007 18
Estoril 2008 15
Prague 2008 15
Birmingham 2007 10
Sydney 2008 10
Berlin 2008 10
423 points here for a total of 579. (Note what a big deal Rome was )
For the record, the tournaments that don't count in the ranking at the moment:
Code:
ITF-2007-Bratislava II-20071028 2007 10
ITF-2007-Poitiers-20071125 2007 9
Eastbourne 2007 5
Luxembourg 2007 5
Stuttgart 2007 5
Paris 2008 5
Palermo 2007 1

Re: Ranking breakdown
You can use this to see what effect the results in the current tournament has on her ranking. For instance, she now has 35 points in Istanbul (though I expect more to come ) so that would gain her 15 points in the ranking (35 minus the 20 she had from 2007 and which are in her best 12). That would put her at a total of 594.
But, as I said, i'm expecting more to come in Istanbul.

634 points and 5 places up for now. A final would be 2 more places and a win yet another 3.

Re: Ranking breakdown
Too bad she lost against Radwanska but still a good run here.
The new situation:
Code:
Roland Garros 2007 2
Wimbledon 2007 2
US Open 2007 91
Austr. Open 2008 60
Miami (mand.) 2008 1
The best 12 of the other tournaments :
Code:
Rome 2008 125
ITF-2007-Bordeaux-20070916 2007 75
Istanbul 2008 65
Stockholm 2007 50
Antwerp 2008 50
Indian Wells 2008 25
ITF-2007-Biella-20070715 2007 18
Estoril 2008 15
Prague 2008 15
Birmingham 2007 10
Sydney 2008 10
Berlin 2008 10
468 points here for a total of 624 (I made a mistake with 634 in an earlier post, so she'll move up to the 43rd spot instead of the 42nd )
For the record, the tournaments that don't count in the ranking at the moment:
Code:
ITF-2007-Bratislava II-20071028 2007 10
ITF-2007-Poitiers-20071125 2007 9
Eastbourne 2007 5
Luxembourg 2007 5
Stuttgart 2007 5
Paris 2008 5
Palermo 2007 1

Re: Ranking breakdown
The new situation, at 682 points :
Code:
Roland Garros 2008 60
Wimbledon 2007 2
US Open 2007 91
Austr. Open 2008 60
Miami (mand.) 2008 1
------------------------------------------
Rome 2008 125
ITF-2007-Bordeaux-20070916 2007 75
Istanbul 2008 65
Stockholm 2007 50
Antwerp 2008 50
Indian Wells 2008 25
ITF-2007-Biella-20070715 2007 18
Estoril 2008 15
Prague 2008 15
Birmingham 2007 10
Sydney 2008 10
Berlin 2008 10
(the tournaments that aren't in the ranking haven't changed).
Most likely she'll be at 39 in the ranking after RG. That's the third career best improvement in a row I think.

Re: Ranking breakdown
Kanepi's surprise result takes her past Tsveti in the rankings. Unless Suarez Navarro, Cetkovska, Kvitova or Wozniak produce a miracle, Tsveti will be 40th after RG.

Re: Ranking breakdown
Since Tsvetana doesn't play this week, next week's ranking breakdown can already be established :
She remains at 682 points. Birmingham 2007 (10pts) comes off but she had a spare tourny with 10 points (ITF Bratislava) so the total remains the same.
She'll remain 40th unless Dellacqua makes the SF or better in Birmingham.
Code:
Roland Garros 2008 60
Wimbledon 2007 2
US Open 2007 91
Austr. Open 2008 60
Miami (mand.) 2008 1
-------------------------------------------
Rome 2008 125
ITF-2007-Bordeaux-20070916 2007 75
Istanbul 2008 65
Stockholm 2007 50
Antwerp 2008 50
Indian Wells 2008 25
ITF-2007-Biella-20070715 2007 18
Estoril 2008 15
Prague 2008 15
Sydney 2008 10
Berlin 2008 10
ITF-2007-Bratislava II-20071028 2007 10
Not in Best 17:
Code:
ITF-2007-Poitiers-20071125 2007 9
Eastbourne 2007 5
Luxembourg 2007 5
Stuttgart 2007 5
Paris 2008 5
Palermo 2007 1
