USTA Summer League
Anybody else playing USTA summer league this year? This is my first time.
Maybe if there are some others, we can discuss it, our matches, etc.

Re: USTA Summer League
I played for a few years and even took my team (I was a captain) to Nationals, but coming froma cold NE weather we got cooked in AZ. Still, it was very rewarding experience

Oh, wow. My team is brand new, and we are playing up a level too, so nothing like that is going to happen.
We play 3 doubles matches and 2 singles matches each Saturday. So far, I've played the #1 singles spot twice, and lost each match. Nobody on my team has won (yet) either singles or doubles.
Still, I'm enjoying it.

Re: USTA Summer League
This is my first year in about 7 years that I'm not playing!
USTA league can be fun...it is amazing all the different personalities you will meet.
It you are playing up a level, don't worry about wins and losses, but it is for the experience. What level?

Yeah, it is just experience for me at this point. I've only played about 8 matches in my life!! The level is 3.0. (Our club league is 3.5 though.) I haven't ever played a doubles match, yet.
I am finding out what to expect from these players; last match she killed me with deep, high-bouncing topspin shots to my backhand. I've never had to defend against those before. (But since I've worked on it - taking the ball early - so I'll be better prepared next time.)
Well, I guess nobody else is playing this, or more likely, nobody comes to this forum. The mods stuck this "Recreational" in the "College" forum, for some strange reason. But hardly anybody sees the Recreational threads.

Re: USTA Summer League
I played some matches already. I won my first 2-6, 6-2, 6-0, and lost my second 4-6, 7-5, 6-3.

Well, congrats on the win and the loss seems like a close one.
Do you do the two singles and three doubles thing? Or how does your league work?
