Re: Marija Abramovic
Marija's doubles ranking is improving again and it's now 315 (from 357 a week ago), which makes her the 3rd best Croat, behind Jurak and Martic. Unfortunately, her singles ranking isn't doing so well, this week she went from 658 to 686.

Marija continues to stink up the courts in singles but her doubles ranking jumped up again this week, this time into the top 300. She went up from 322 to 296. It will go up again next week, to around 275, when last week's $25K results are taken into account (she and Gojnea reached the semis in Australia).

Re: Marija Abramovic
Could it be that she's targeting qualies of AO doubles and that she might use SR for qualies of singles

Re: Marija Abramovic
Once again, this time in Traralgon $25K, Marija crashed out of qualies but won a MD doubles match:
ABRAMOVIC (CRO) / BUZARNESCU (ROU) defeated BAI (AUS) / WLODARCZAK (AUS) 6-2 3-6 [10-7]
Unfortunately, in the QF they play the #2 seed team, GROTH (AUS) / HOPPER (AUS).

Re: Marija Abramovic
Well, nice to see her at least doing well in doubles and making some sort of career in tennis. It's good that we might have more than one doubles specialist for a FED Cup team, in case a place stays open for Marija.
Good luck in the quarters!

Re: Marija Abramovic
^ Finally! And she got a good win too, beating Monika Wejnert (#470, CH #324) in straights.
She also got a good draw. In R1 she plays another qualifier, Whoriskey, #702. Good luck, Marija!

Re: Marija Abramovic
Also, Marija keeps on adding to her doubles points:
ABRAMOVIC (CRO) / BUZARNESCU (ROU) (4) defeated SCIVETTI (AUS) / WHYBOURN (GBR) 6-2 6-3
Her team has a good chance to advance to the QF. They're seeded #4 and will play BOBUSIC (AUS) / HUBACEK (AUS).

Re: Marija Abramovic
They lost the doubles in three so no SF this time, but Marija is finally looking pretty decent in singles as well.
She stretches her series of wins to four after beating Whoriskey 4 and 2 and got a wonderful chance in R2 cause instead of the 3rd seed Rodionova, she'll play Whybourn who won that R1 on retirement.
Whybourn is a good player, being currently close to top300, but I still see this as somewhat of a chance for Marija cause Whybourn isn't in some great form, and also cause her c-h is close to Marija's too.
Good luck!

Re: Marija Abramovic
A step back again...lost 2 & 3 Honestly, I wasn't expecting an easy win in this match, but a bit more fight (even with a loss) would've been nice to see.

Re: Marija Abramovic
^ Ditto.
At least she picked up 8 points, which will move her up by ~70 spots. But even after that, she'll still be ranked in the 600s... On the other hand, she's defending only 2 points until early May, so if she keeps playing, she should be able to continue moving up.

Re: Marija Abramovic
I still think she should focus on doubles, cause it looks like she could actually make a decent career as a doubles specialist. I agree that she could climb further than this in singles, no question about it, but how far is another question - and without some serious improvement to her singles game, I doubt it's very far.

Re: Marija Abramovic
Looks like that on her way from Australia she'll give it a shot in qualies of Pune 25k in India (December 20th).
