Not a bad scoreline in the quarters, well done Silvia! Lalami is a regular top500 so it's nice to see Silvia win against her, but hopefully she can play even better. El Allami is a year older than Lalami, ranked about the same, a bit shorter and a lefty. Hope that doesen't cause too many problems for Silvia.
Silvia is the #5 seed this week in Algiers. She has the same R1 match-up as last week, against an unranked local player named Toubal. Last week Silvia won 61 60, so she should be able to win again this week.
She won her singles match as well, against Toubal, this time it was 6:2, 6:1. Next she plays an unranked Bulgarian Petras, a girl with a c-h ranking of 1196. Shouldn't really have any problems getting to QF.
Maybe her next opponent is starting to get tired after playing so much, who knows. Koek also needed 3 sets in her previous match to defeat some unranked 17 y.o., which sounds good for Silvia's chances.
Anyway, it's nice to see Silvia winning pro matches and bageling the bagel girls, so I'm increasingly optimistic about her. She might not be ready to conquer the world, but she might become a pretty good player some day.
Excellent win by Silvia, as Koek is ranked in the 400s. In the SF, it's a match of two Silvias! Silvia N. plays the #7 seed, Silvia Albano. Albano is ranked lower--in the 1000s--so this is an excelent chance for Silvia N. to reach the final.
