Re: Ajla Tomljanovic thread!

hahahah serving tice for the match and choking both big time.
LOOOL she´s toast we already saw her final career high. We talked for a year now nice stuff and things will be better, it just takes time blablabla
She was better as a 16 y.o.
tbh he definately surprised me the way she plays.
She´s just another croatian choker, I mean how can you blow this match away?? seriously!!!

Next hope on the line is Donna Vekic, hope she shows some mental toughness which is rare in croatian tennis.

I hope she's furious with herself about this, cause otherwise I wonder what her future in tennis is. If she hopes to be the next Kournikova and earn her money through endorsments...well, I sure hope that's not the plan. Besides, even Kournikova was a decent (top10, doubles slam champion) tennis player. Ajla is still far from that I'm afraid.

Oh and, if she thinks people will give her wild-cards until the end of time, she can forget about it. Next year she'll turn 19, and some 16 y.o. kid with a good junior record will come along asking for them - guess which one will get them?

Her story is becoming incresingly similar to that of Michelle Larcher De Brito - a future tennis superstar who reached the best ranking of #76 at an early age, only to slump backwards after that. The difference is, Ajla hasn't reached top 80, hasn't even come close.

All in all, I really wonder what her plans are now. Going back to ITF circuit and trying to find some form would be best IMO, but of course, my opinion is not the one that counts. Let's hope there are some people of good judgement in her camp, cause she definately can play, but something is very wrong at the moment.

Fingers crossed that it all turns out for the best.
She played the same crap last year. but at least she was able to win a few matches back then.
Look back and you´ll realize that pretty much every single match of hers was a breakfest.
I doubt there were even a lot matches which she ended with a first serve percentage above 50%. That´s ridiculous.
The best thing for her would be to find a psychologist, she seems to be just another mental midget.

It just can´t go on like this anymore.

I know it's very dissapointing, but whatever, it's all in her hands.
We don't get anything from it except satisfaction.
It's just so annoying that all Croatian players are prety much chokers so often.
I hope she wakes up, bit more determination now wouldn't hurt.

That´s just frustrating, mate.
Every single croatian player is a choker.
As for Ajla I doubt she will ever find some real consistency.
If you start your career as a choker it´s more than likely that you´ll also end as a chocker.
To me she doesn´t seem to have that fighting spirit which is needed to achive something in your career.

Re: Ajla Tomljanovic thread!

come down, she is just 17 year old girl. she beated top 100 opponent few days ago and she almost did it again.
marin cilic is just 22 and he can become multi slam winner while ajla has only 17

Sadly they´re both mental midgets.
Marin and Ajla are both highly talented but they don´t have the nerves to win the crucial points.

Marin's chance of becoming a multi slam winner is about the same as mine becoming a Superman. Sure, if Nadal breaks both knees, Djokovic and Murray quit tennis and Fed suffers a brain injury, he might have a shot.

Yes, Ajla is just 17. The same age Sharapova was when she won Wimbledon. But wait, Maria has something that Ajla is obviously lacking...now what is that...oh yeah, they call it GUTS! For someone who claims to want to become #1, Ajla is dreaming. Someone should tell her that she switched from juniors a few years ago, and that she can't count on wins playing the same old junior tennis. Not to mention that her junior results don't mean a thing to girls against which she now plays.

This time last year, she has earned 95 points already. This year; 41. For not defending 30 points here, she'll drop some 15 ranking spots and even bring into question her participation in the qualies of French Open, maybe even Wimbledon (where she got 50 points last year). And let's not forget that she's defending the finals of Pelham 25k and Prague 50k before the French, which makes things even worse. She'll have to step it up if she doesn't want to slump back, that's for sure.

So it's not a question of just one loss, it's a question of how an why that loss came, and the fact that she's not "just a kid starting tennis" anymore - she's a player with points to defend and expectations to meet (those of sponsors, tournament directors, general public...). Yes, it's tough, but she chose this path in life so she has to learn to cope with it.

Re: Ajla Tomljanovic thread!

she needs to go back to the 25ks and get some confidence imo...she hasn't won a lot of matches over the last six months and that is clearly hurting her

Re: Ajla Tomljanovic thread!

^^ Exactly, and still, she's nowhere to be found on the Hammond list (starting Feb. 28th). There, she might have even been seeded, i.e. get an easier start. She's also not on the quali list for Acapulco WTA that starts next week. So she probably got another WC for Indian Wells. Although I really don't know what use of it she might have at this point.

Yup, she won 7:5. Oudin is far from her best and Rodina has been pickin' up the pieces of her game in the last 2-3 matches, and looks like she's on the right path.

Re: Ajla Tomljanovic thread!

Ajla has helped out so many players out of slumps due to her chokejobs.
All those players made it at least to the QF of the certain tournament.

Birmingham: Alison Riske
San Diego: Shenay Perry
Menphis: Rodina

and loads of others... that´s so sad.
