So all in all Ajla is playing great, I mean she is our new number one girl which rose faster than any other our player in previous year. I think we would see more interesting things from her in future and that is something nice to look for.
But like with all our players take some medicine if you want to follow their matches in finals lol you will need it – that is rule for all of them in general.
Don't agree on the bolded part - if you think it's uncontrolable go find some videos of Federer in his early pro years and you'll see it's not, after you compare it to his state of mind a few years later. As a youngster he was emotional to say the least, and not in a good way (if there is such a thing). He was cursing and smashing racquets, as if he is the next Ivanisevic. And then he (obviously) started working on his mental side and some years later it was hard to believe it was the same player. Going through player lists I'm certain we could find more examples.
But Ajla is here for quite some time now and she isn't showing any improvement on the mental side, as if she doesn't think it's important to work on it. I wonder if her camp is even recognizing this as a problem or they just write these defeats down to insufficient energy or miraculous and sudden rises in her opponents' games.
I know how our players can be (been following our tennis for some 20+ years now), but what strikes me is their inability (or lack of interest) to work on their own psyche, if nothing by just hiring a sports psychologist. Ana Konjuh seems like a genuine mental giant and she might turn out an exception that proves the rule (let's hope so), but of all the players we've produced in the past two decades, the fact that none of them are psychologically strong is in my view startling. Yes, we're quite emotional people, but not all people are emotional to the same extent (as would appear following our female tennis), so that cannot be the only reason.

Re: Ajla Tomljanovic thread!

It would be interesting to hear sports psychologist views what could be done and how.
I agree, it is strange that we are able to produce so many talents that are falling short to use their capability in full mode.

She's defending only 18 points until January, so she should be able to

Re: Ajla Tomljanovic thread!

WTA 125 Nanjing (CHN) 2013
(7)Tomljanovic v Puchkova
Friedsam v Piter
(wc)Wang Yafan v (wc)Sun Ziyue
Shvedova v (2)Wickmayer

Tough quarter. Puchkova can be tricky on a good day, but her form is currently pretty bad, five looses in a row. Potential second round would probably be against Friedsam who plays season of her career, over 40 wins in 2013. And potential QF brings Wickmayer or Shvedova.

GL Ajla, no pressure, just try your best, this season has already been great

OOP says that Ajla will play second match on Court A (I assume that is centre court) and there should be stream. It's around 6AM CET

Re: Ajla Tomljanovic thread!

The match has started. Ajla is up an early break on Puchkova.

Ajla's backhand is very good.
