That doesn't sound good. If it were an ankle/knee type of injury she'd probably retire right away and not play several games while not feeling well. This sounds like something that could be connected to mono - when you think you can continue and do, only to realize it's not doing you any good. Really hope I'm wrong.

Btw, Ajla is not defending any points until mid May, and only 43 (out of 128, after today) until late October. If she stays healthy, she should be back in the top 200 soon!

Next she'll face the 6th seed Olga Puchkova, a very tough task for Ajla, but never say never They've never played eachother but it's enough to say that Puchkova's c-h is #32 to figure out this'll be a memorable experience for Ajla whatever happens. A win would be simply astonishing at this point, but even a competitive match would be wonderful to see against such a solid player. |
