Mari Andersson
I figure this is the place to ask. Does anyone know much about her? She is currently at the University of California at Berkeley but not currently on the team (I believe she'll start playing in the Fall of 2008).

Re: Mari Andersson
I cannot understand why she is not playing in the WtaTour, she had enough talent. I asked myself the same question. I read something about her on the Helsingborg Tennis Klub page. But i cannot find her in Collegetennisonline.com

Re: Mari Andersson
I think I found that same blog, too (I don't read Swedish though). She just arrived in the States in late January to start classes so I don't know how she would play on the ITF tour.
The tennis team is full right now (there are no scholarships left). I would assume she would get a scholarship to play tennis and thus not start until the start of the next season. Maybe she's there already to takes classes/train but not play yet?

Re: Mari Andersson
I bet she is better than most of those on the team. One Swede who plays US College tennis is Anna-Viktoria Lind she plays for UCLA

I've never seen her play, but after reading her blog I assume she's a baseline player. She says:
"Those who have seen me play knows that the only time I step over the serveline is when I shake hand after the match" (certainly not a volley player then).
Her blog is a nice read btw. She practises doubles a lot and has just learned all the standard handsigns neccessary to communicate with her partner (78 signs, she says, perhaps exaggerating a bit!). She'll be a double specialist when she gets home!

She might want to step over the service line if she is going to be playing doubles,

Not in NCAA doubles
I'm assuming that if she's standing that far back she's more of the counter puncher type of player?

Re: Mari Andersson
Mari will be a killer in NCAA, a player with her ranking will be easily top 10 in NCAA i think.

Yes, I think she is quite short so sounds like she mite be a counter-puncher ?

Re: Mari Andersson
She was in Entry Lists of some Mexican 10k and an USA 25k. But she pulled out. Maybe we will see her again in tournaments?
