Fed Cup 2008
Dat waren we nog vergeten 
Nederland verslaat Luxemburg met 2-1 en inmiddels ook Portugal met 3-0 waardoor handhaving zeker is. Een overwinning morgen op Bulgarije betekent de eerste plaats in de groep en dat zou een onverwacht succes zijn.

Ja zou zeker onverwacht zijn. Toch best wel een onervaren en jonge ploeg maar ze doen het heel goed 
Morgen tegen Bulgarije dus, zij beschikken over Pironkova, wordt lastig.

Pironkova zeker. Evtimova moet kunnen. In dat geval wordt het dubbel bijzonder spannend...

Ze hebben heel geluk met de loting gehad. Leuk dat ze geen degredatie wedstrijden moet spelen. Hopelijk kunnen ze promotie wedstrijden spelen, maar ja, dat zou heel moeilijk zijn als ze dat moet spelen.

En de dames verslaan verrassend eenvoudig ook Bulgarije!
Renee walste over Evtimova heen met 6-0 6-3, maar de grootste verrassing was de overwinning van Arantxa met 6-4 6-4 op top 100 speelster Pironkova.

Netherlands lost to Serbia. But they should be proud, they showed they are much better than their current ranking!

I think it's safe to say that Fed Cup 2008 was fantastic. Without Krajicek, Schultz and retired Tamaela i thought it would be very hard for Thijssen,Wong,Rus and Reinhard to stay in Zone 1.
But they did great, especially Renee and Arantxa showed they have great potential in singles and not to forget Thijssen and Wong 
Too bad they lost against Serbia but Renee and Arantxa fought very hard.
I'm proud of all of them

Heel erg goed gedaan van het Nederlandse Fed Cup team deze week.
Ik denk dat het ook wel goed was dat ze er met een jong en fris team stonden. Op deze manier kregen Reinhard en Rus alle kans om veel wedstrijden te spelen en ervaring op te doen. En ze blijven me wel verbazen, voor Aranxta, haar vooruitgang gaat echt heel hard op dit moment. Ik ben benieuwd was ze allemaal nog gaan doen, ik hoop dat hun ontwikkeling zo door blijft gaan!
Misschien was het ook goed dat deze meisjes deze week speelden, Misa weet het op de een of andere manier vaak weer te verpesten tegen van dit soort speelsters.  |

Yes, the team played well, but the draw they had was very lucky. They got 3 of the weakest other teams in their group (with regards to players who actually played). If we were in any of the other groups, I don't think we would have finished first in the group.
And Mark is right - even with Misa, we wouldn't have been promotoed playing against Serbia.
But  mostly to Renee & Aran!
