Huge win for Duke. This should push them into the top 8. Even more impressive considering they lost the doubles and won 4/6 singles. Re: 2008 Match of the Week Thread

I do think it is a big win for Duke but if I were Florida I wouldn't be shaking in my boots too much. The dual was originally scheduled to be played outdoors, going indoors favors Duke. Second, Srebrovic is still out with an injury. When she gets healthy that makes Florida much stronger no matter where she'll play in the line-up.

Lastly, do we really believe Iyer is their No. 1 player? Something smells funny.

Re: 2008 Match of the Week Thread

Duke takes out Notre Dame and has a match with Northwestern later this weekend. How they play against Northwestern will determine whether Duke is a pretender or contender this year.

northwestern seems pretty powerful with the addition of their new recruit.
right now, i'd say my rankings would be:
1. gtech
2. nW
3. duke
4. florida
5. UCLA
6. Cal
7. Stanford
8. baylor
9. miami?
10georgia
11. north carolina
12. southern cal
13. vanderbilt?
14. fresno?
beyond this its really hard to categorize. it's really a shame that USC is underachieving again this year. I relaly think they should fire their coach and get a new one. He just doesn't get the team through clutch situations. and in college, i chalk that all up to coaching. they've lost soooo many close matches to stanford, ucla, florida and miami the past few years, when on talent a lone, they should've won quite a few of them, particularly last year and 2 years go.
Also it's relaly amazing to me how Gtech has come on out of nowhere. They were not a program of ANY note before Kristi miller came on, and that was 3 years ago. i mean at the end of 2004 season, before miller came on, they wre ranked 40!!!
when mmiller was a freshman and played #1, they finished that year at #5!!! and since then they've won 2 national indoors and a national title. Really amazing to me. I wanna know what their coach is doing.
