At the Grand Slams, doubles usually starts on Day 3. Having the draw come out on the night before the doubles contest starts, however, does seem a little late!

They don't need it, their combined singles ranking is enough to enter. However, they won't be seeds, which may be bad news for seeded teams! Hopefully all my favs can avoid playing them in the first rounds...

Its not late at all.
Most tournaments Regularly do draws the day/night before they start playing.
It's always been held till after play monday/tuesday for slams in the hope that players who maybe wouldnt normally play doubles...who get knocked out round 1 will sign up to get a bit of extra $$ and match play
