Giorgi is not a bad player, but she's not exactly in a good form lately. Prior to this tournament she made just three wins in the past 6 events, and here she hasn't beaten anyone from inside the 400 yet. She did beat Rampre in Troy 2 and 4, but that's pretty much her only noteworthy win on hardcourts this year. All in all, I think Jele 3.0 has a realistic chance of reaching her third final, second on 25k's
This doesen't seem like a particularly bad draw for Jelena as she is the one with a higher ranking here. Hendler also isn't in some crazy form lately, so I don't think there's too much to worry about. Her most impressive tournament this year has been Osprey 25k (clay) where she's reached SF, by beating Brengle and Irigoyen, but she hasn't done much at all on hard. No h2h between these two so far.
Potential clash in R2 with McHale worries me more, honestly.
An 18 y.o. who hasn't made it into top500 yet and loves to play on clay doesen't sound like a threat in R2, but there must be something in her if she managed to take out the 2nd seed (unless McHale had a really bad day at the office). In their previous match (this August, hardcourts of Vancouver 75k), McHale won easily 1 and 4 so who knows what happened here. Certainly I think this gives Jelena a better shot at advancing. This year Dabrowski beat some top200 players, but consistency isn't her strenght, so let's hope for more nice news.
