Re: The Amazing and Remarkable Monica Niculescu
^Puig is the next opponent of Sori.
WTA Indian Wells, QR 1
(2)Monica Niculescu def. Lesya Tsurenko 6:2 6:3
Moni was one of the few qualifying favourites who was able to beat her opponent in a straight two setter. Maybe her style of tennis is not that prone to windy weather conditions than the game of ballbashers.
Next opponent in the final qualification is Kathrin Wörle! Good luck!

Ups, I realized that. Thank you. Good chance for Monica to advance. I wish I could watch her match.

WTA Indian Wells, Qualifying Final
(2)Monica Niculescu def. Kathrin Wörle 6:1 6:4
Easier than I expected and in contrast to many other players without much struggling on her serve!
Let's hope for a good qualifying spot!

Re: The Amazing and Remarkable Monica Niculescu
Her first round opponent is Anastasia Rodionova who just won only one match this year...
Take your chance!

Re: The Amazing and Remarkable Monica Niculescu
Monica just keeps on winning and winning emphatically too. 6-3 6-1 over Rodionova. Damn!!! Moni is playing some great tennis this week. 6-2 6-3, then 6-1 6-4 and now 6-3 6-1. You really can't ask for more than that.
Best of all Monica has broken serve an amazing 18 times in her opponents 26 service games. That is 3 breaks a set. Impressive or what.
This is really delightful form Monica has been showing this week. To be honest, I wish she could just take this form and stick it into a bottle and take that bottle with her whereever she goes.

Well said, from a great fan I suppose. I am also very pleased to see her playing like that and winning the matches she is supposed to win. I'd be very dissapointed if she didn't win against Bartoli. Is it too much to ask?

Re: The Amazing and Remarkable Monica Niculescu
I'm not surprised that she keeps on winning in windy weather conditions. She seems to like that very much!
Beating Bartoli won't be easy because the French could overpower her easily, but on the other side she has to adapt to the difficult weather conditions here.
We will see!

Honestly? It's asking an awful lot. Bartoli won't be at all easy. Bartoli is a player who very rarely loses her 1st match in a tournament. She is also someone who is known to frequently crush lower ranked players. To beat her would take a great effort. It's possible of course but it would be a huge upset and it would require Monica to be at her very best throughout the match.

Re: The Amazing and Remarkable Monica Niculescu
Lost doubles today with Anastasia Rodionova 6-7 3-6 against the top seed Dulko/Pennetta
I didn't realize it before that Rodionova she trashed yesterday, plays doubles with her that week!

Re: The Amazing and Remarkable Monica Niculescu
(15)Marion Bartoli def. (Q)Monica Niculescu 2:6 6:3 6:2
Monica was a competitive opponent for at least one hour of the match, no she was obviously the better player , but in the end Marion adapted to the windy weather and controled it up to the end very easily...
The only worrying thing were the long breaks between the sets and the fact that Monica has now to withdraw from Nassau...
