The LTA today announced that six British players have been awarded wild cards into the International Women’s Open played at Devonshire Park, Eastbourne from 16-23rd June.
British number one Anne Keothavong (world ranked 169) and British number three Mel South (world ranked 206) will participate in the main draw of the last British grass court tournament before Wimbledon. Wild cards into qualifying which begins on Saturday 16th June have been given to Naomi Cavaday (243), Elena Baltacha (437), Katie O’Brien (189) and Sarah Borwell (248).
Competitors playing at the International Women’s Open include world number one and defending champion Justine Henin who will be playing her first tournament since winning the French Open, reigning Wimbledon champion Amelie Mauresmo, and world number five Svetlana Kuznetsova.
Tickets are currently on sale for the International Women’s Open which offers tennis fans a fantastic opportunity to watch some of the world’s finest players. Ticket information is available from the Box Office on 01323 412000. Qualifying for this year’s event will take place between Saturday 16 and Monday 18 of June 2007. The main draw will be played between Monday 18 and Saturday 23 of June 2007 at Devonshire Park, Eastbourne. Each day’s play will commence at 11:30am
