Mary Joe broke the Top 20 at 17 the year Chris retired. She reached GS finals in 1990, 1992 & 1993 so she belongs more to the Graf/Seles era. She even reached round of 16 in Roland Garros and US Open in 1999.

But bad news for Ana (current #7) is if she even reach final at RG, she will be 6th after that in best case .

Thanks, dumb me forgot to read the whole thread. :P Someone already put big italics for players who had higher rankings :P Evert lost like 60 weeks from that computer thingy.

21. Shinobu Asagoe, Jeanne duVall, Helen Gourlay Cawley, Joanette Kruger, Kate Latham, Henrieta Nagyova, Beth Norton, Marianne Werdel-W
Great list Brian & good idea to update, Spiceboy. It's only fair to mention, imo, that the players in large type & italics above were surely ranked higher before the inception of the rankings in November 1975.

Well said AndyT!
Billie-Jean King & Margaret Court were both former #1 ranked players - did Evonne get to #1?
And Francoise Durr (not Frances Durr) reached a peak of #3 - I had to spell that out to those who weren't sure.
It would be great to know the highest rankings those others like Rosie & Morozova etc got to also out of respect for them ...
