She's entered in Tokyo, Beijing (she couldn't not enter this anyway) and Moscow.

Linz full entry list isn't public yet so don't know about there.

Miami
Clay MM
Madrid
Rome
French Open
Prep event on grass

She might enter another MM to at least secure Mini YEC again.

Thus said, you never know how things turn out, but this is a top player's schedule with enough room for spontaneity if things might turn out differently.
I don't think it's wise to play Paris at all. You'd have to hope she's going to make R4 at least in Australian Open, it's then a big ask to go play in Europe a week later.

I don't really like that end of year schedule either, if you assume her goal is something like make Singapore. Obviously it's more a work in progress though, you don't have to commit to the fall tournaments until you probably know how likely it is you will make Singapore anyway.

With some of the events it probably defends if she wants to defend her titles from this year or go play premiers instead. Eg. s'Hertogenbosch or playing the premiers in Birmingham and/or Eastbourne instead.

Just have a look at the younger up and coming players on the WTA tour. There are quite a lot of them establishing themselves in the Top 100 now, but really only a few will be able to trouble Simona on clay in the next couple of years as far as I can see.

Simona contradicts your idea that a pause before RG would harm .
After Wimbledon she made a long break, returns, and make QF in Cinci, knocked out by Serena.. next week win at New Haven... where you see problems ?
OK If it not play in Rome, would forget how to play on clay.
If it makes QF, SF in Rome and Madrid, he reaches RG with ice bags on his knees.. and muscle cramps since the first match.
In these conditions, of course it will play only half of its potential, and can risk a serious injury .. God forbid it something like that.

Yes I understand your point, Roma last preparation for RG. I know that blue clay in Madrid, is totally different from normal clay.
Normally would not play at Madrid, and play in Rome. But if it plays in Madrid and ends in SF or F, seem very logical to me no longer play in Rome, resting, and arrive at RG in good physical and mental conditions, and not totally exhausted.
Will tell how to prepare for a RG ? ..if not Rome ?
Look at tournaments played it, and you realize that it does not require much adaptation, preparation. Played on clay.. played well, played on grass next week.. win, play on the grass in Wimbly, than makes a long pause, back on hard.. and play just as well.

Once again, Simona needs to play a smart schedule.

Logistically, playing Paris after the AO is really exhausting, but that event is a complete joke since it got rescheduled this year. Reaching SFs there should be not much of a task if she is feeling remotely well, taking her seeding position into account. Easy points for the grabs. I would be surprised to not see her entering in 2014. She can still withdraw if she is going very far in the AO.

There are not many options for her to play a different schedule in fall. After the Asian swing, she might also play Osaka who has a weaker entry list than Linz. Moscow is usually suffering from a lot of tanking and late withdrawals, but as you said it's hard to predict how these events turn out before.

Completely agree with the last paragraph.

Yes, but that break made much more sense as it evolved around a change of surface and continents in between. Instead of getting rushed in between weeks after having had to retire from her match in Bastad with a back injury, she prefered to prepare on the Hard Courts alone and it was exactly the right thing to do.

She also went on reaching the QF which shows that it was a good decision, but look at her struggles in the first match back against Hsieh who was the worst player in the main draw at that time. She could have easily lost against someone halfway decent in R1 there.

Thus said, I really can't think of any player not only aiming for the slams to only play one of the Madrid/Rome events. There is still a full week break in between Rome and the start of the FO.
The days of 'mummy suits' after one good week seem to be over for Simona 2.0.

Re: Simona Halep (România)

Against Watson had more problems to win, than in match against Hsieh and was already well accustomed to hard surface.
Anyway it is useless to talk, no one wants to see that she got the USO debilitating, even if signals were evident in the first match: muscle cramps, pain in legs edges (it was the only that used bags of ice in the first match), difficulty breathing... seemed like a steam locomotive.

Re: Simona Halep (România)

Judging by her latest statements in the media, Simona is not likely to reduce her schedule drastically in nearer future. She may even play mixed doubles with Tecau at the Grand Slams.

I posted it in the news/articles thread.

I doubt she will play mixed with Tecau. She probably just wanted to be nice since she was asked.

Sure, that question was stupid and off topic, like the one about Romanian football team.

Re: Simona Halep (România)

Here , some sites and Televisions are pure sh*t and they have articles (almost) only on f*cking football at which we kind of suck (national team especially with that joke of a coach/ manager).

I watch football (2nd after tennis) but enough is enough .

So that is the explanation for the question.
