I once read on some message board someone commenting that we Romanians don't possess the right mindset to make it as a top athlet these days. Although he was talking about soccer, I start to believe he was right.

Simona is obviously trying to change her game-plan, but she's heading nowhere. Completely gave up in that first set after fucking up 2 BPs in the very first game, gave up in that second set after wasting another 2 BPs at 3-3, got broken from 40-0 up.

It's not about chokers we are talking about, it's even more basic. Begu, Halep, Cîrstea, Olaru, Hanescu, Mergea etc. just the names are different, but the problem is the same. Unprofessional environment, pathetic mental fortitude, no spirit, no fight, nothing, tons of unfulfilled potential.

At the end of their careers, they will likely stand in front of a huge shred of broken dreams and regret that they didn't make other decisions back in the day when they were still able to do so.

I saw only the second set and Simona didn't play bad, hitting some nice forehand winners and showing some skills in building points but it was look to me like something missing in her game - maybe the self thrusting in her chances to win?

That 2nd set wasn't bad at all, I would even go as far and say she was the better player for most of it, but the mental aspect is playing a huge role here.
That 1st set was just horrible, no words for that, though.

However, she gave up numerous times in this match. She needs a coach and someone to trust in ASAP, otherwise she is risking a serious drop. She has tons of points to defend from now until the French Open.
