Yep, just think back a couple of months were she got a big trashing by Petrova in New York, a minor trashing in Tokyo mostly caused by mental retirement after wasting SPs and even a win in Moscow after a strong comeback.
So, despite letting loose on many matches at the moment, she still seems to be able to put up a fight when the match evolves around personal history.
I mean it's no surprise that the only recent match apart from the one against Nadja, Simona turned around, was against her friend Arantxa. Here as well, she lost the first set of the match and finished with a breadstick in the decider.

Stephens is in another league. This is Top 10 tennis at least.

Devastated for Simona that she had to draw an opponent who was playing that well. She got outplayed today by Stephens who is simply better at the moment in nearly every department of the game, but she fought till the end this time at least, so I take this as a positive thing.
I have the feeling that Simona is coming to that point where she tries to be more agressive, but simply has to recognize that she lacks the power to execute this kind of tennis and it's frustrating her.

The commentator on the broadcast that I watched was amazed that they were only 20 places apart in the rankings, yet the match only lasted 45 minutes. Other commentators are mentioning that in the current state of the women's game, they shouldn't have 128 spots in the main draw, which is rubbish.
