(6)Elena Antonova (RUS) d. (4)Simone Alipieva 64 61
Antonova also won her SF today 63 62 and seems in good form. Keep working Simone!
Noe lost R2 in doubles in Costa Rica. I assume she plays in Venezuela next week (Grade 1).
Emilie Francati is playing a G1 in Australia. Her opponent in R1 is Verena Hofer (ITA). I remember how Simone Alipieva lost a tough three-set match against Hofer a year ago. Hofer is beatable, but still very good. She's won a grade 2 tournament, while Emilie's only tournament win was grade 5. Emilie is ranked higher though! Anyway, this is a tough 1st round for Emilie. GL!
Pretty close, I think, but Emilie shouldn't be too dissatisfied. This section is pretty difficult with (1) Varvara Flink in the 3rd round, so Emilie was probably never going to win more than one or two matches anyway.
She's playing doubles with Tereza Mihalikova (SVK) once again. They had some success recently: a SF in Yucatan, and a QF in Orange Bowl. GL!
Well done Tough match, but this is a grade one, so I guess it's supposed to be tough. Opponents in R2 are Katie Boulter (GBR)/Ilze Hattingh (RSA) who are probably much better players than Emilie/Tereza at the moment (Boulter is currently ranked #28). GL
