Emilie continues to impress! This time she defeated the #3 seed Freya Christie (another young talent - also 13 years). Emilie doesn't play doubles in London, but Frederikke Karst does, and she won her 1st round with an English partner. GL to the the two Danes next round
QF: Nicole Shakhnazarova (GBR) d. Emilie Francati 6-4 6-2
But getting two wins at an international U16 is actually quite good. I thought a U16 maybe was a bit too ambitious, but I was wrong! It'll be interesting to see Emilie at the Danish indoor senior championships next week! There's always a risk that she draws Hanne Skak, Mai Grage, or Karen Barbat in the 1st round - there's not anyone can do about that!
The Danish senior Championships have begun! More than two thirds of the entries are juniors, so this week will be a great opportunity to follow the Danish juniors! There is live cam on the center court (and live score under the cam window):
I've been busy, so I've only had a glance at the monitor once in a while. But there were a few good rallies, and a few nice shots. And they also misses a lot, of course.
To answer the question: There are no umpires (maybe in the later rounds or finals?). But there is a referee at place, and they can adress him if they're in doubt of the ruling (which happens occasionally).
Thanks, Looks like Emilie is playing more of a all or nothing power game, and not giving herself too help with her shot placement. She started to make errors when ahead... Martine has been better at keeping her shots under control/adjusting her length, and also seems to be making better shot selections at the moment.
