Re: Last foreign language movie you saw, and your rating of it!
Under The Same Moon with Katie Del Castillo.
Spanish language movie about a little boy whose
mother goes to America to find work, and he then
goes to find her.
Sappy, yes.
Pro-Illegal Alien - very much so yes.
However, a very good movie about a little boy looking
to find his mother, against all odds, with some nice
characters, sweet film. Not too heavy handed. The boy
is excellent.
Well done. I'd recommend it.

Re: Last foreign language movie you saw, and your rating of it!
La Vie en Rose: 234/10
The Lives of Others: 233/10
In fact, these two films are the best films I've seen anywhere in a very long time and I hate the way that films like this get sidelined and maybe even patronised in English speaking countries (specially the USA I'm afraid) and often aren't put into the mainstream categories for film awards. For example, I think that the Lives of Others was the best film to come out of anywhere in 2006 and it should have won the best film Oscar outright, not just best foreign language film.

Curse of the Golden Flower (2006, in Mandarin) - 2/5
The subtitles were difficult to read because they're too small to read. The movie is OK but not explained clearly.

Battle Royale - 2/5
Finally saw this movie but I don't see what's hype about it The only scenes I enjoyed were the "villain" femme fatale.

I didn't get the hype either. In fact, I hated the movie.
