Well, you could say the exact same thing about
last year and she still got one.
And factually speaking, she has progressed from
this time last year. Last year, she didn't win
a match on tour until that Wimbledon match
against Dokic. This year, she's at this point
won 2 tour matches. So, technically speaking,
she has progressed.

Why is she not playing on her favorite surface? She definitely could have gotten into Birmingham qualy draw.

Re: Alex Stevenson's Chat Thread. (!!!)
hmm i wonder what poor Alex is up to. She obviously is not playing Wimbledon as she is not in qualifying and did not recieve a WC into the MD.
Hopefully she's not injured and training for the summer hardcourt season. It would be nice to see her play some $10k's like LLW.
Or maybe she's actually injured. Who knows with Alex i guess...

Re: Alex Stevenson's Chat Thread. (!!!)
I think Alex has definitely been injured the past few weeks; I can't see any other reason for her to miss Surbiton, Birmingham and S'Hertowhatever. And now she has pulled out of next week's 25K in Texas, as well. She's still on the list for Boston the following week -- she's in the MD there -- so maybe she's hoping to be better by then. We'll see if she ends up withdrawing there. I'm sure she wants to be fit to play in Cincinnati, since it was the high point of her season last year, and she's got to be concerned about defending those points.

If she isn't going to announce her retirement then Alex should definitely be playing the 10K's and 25K's.

Alex is currently ranked 512 despite having 16 tournaments on her year -- just one tournament short of a full schedule for ranking purposes.
So, yes, based on her ranking, the 10s and the 25s are where she ought to be. But it seems that in Alex's head, that 512 number is just some kind of bizarre fluke, rather than an accurate indicator of how well she can play nowadays. So she's not mentally ready to play at the lowly level her game deserves.

Re: Alex Stevenson's Chat Thread. (!!!)
So Lexy is now in the SF of Ashland, Ky challenger. What is that going to mean for her ranking?

By reaching the SF, Alexandra receives 20 points. So she'll move from 497 to around 375 for next week.
Hpoefully she can win Ashland and earn the wildcard into the maindraw of the Bell Challenge. But most importantly, i'm glad she's healthy and winning again. She's won 6 of her last 7 matches. No retirements. And she's entered into next week's challenger in Troy, AL. Baby steps...
