Re: Australian Money Tournament Circuit
Just like to point out that Alexanda Nancarrow (16 y.o and Australian Junior Fed Cup Member) lost yesterday in the QLD AMT No.8 to 13 y.o Lyann Hoang 2-6 6-1 6-4.
Hoang has had injury problems for the first half of 2009 and is only getting back into it now. Explains her one sided losses to the likes of Bobusic (though she would have still lost convincingly because Bobusic is a decent player).
Doesn't say much for Nancarrow IMO.
Wejnert should sweep this event without losing a set. No Sumner, so Letcher is the No.2 seed.
Monika scored a double bagel yesterday and plays 14th seed Harriet Sheehan today for a place in the quarters

Re: Australian Money Tournament Circuit
Hoang sounds promising. Will be interesting to see how she goes at the ITFs when she turns 14.

Re: Australian Money Tournament Circuit
Bump!
Shayna has been tearing up the AMT #4 in Cairns this week...
Seeded 6th
R1: bye
R2: defeated Kataraina HUNIA (NZL) 6-0 6-0
R3: defeated Olivia RICH (VIC) (11) 6-0 6-4
QF: defeated Isabella HOLLAND (QLD) (2) 6-3 6-3
SF: defeated Emelyn STARR (NSW) (4) 6-0 6-0
F: versus Sophie LETCHER (QLD) (3)
Letcher outlasted Ashling Sumner in the other semi final today 4-6 7-5 6-0. This was after Sumner thrashed top seed Alison Bai 6-2 6-2 in the quarter finals.
I wonder how Isabella is feeling this week? Three years ago she was the best player born 1991 or later. She headed Australia's winning Junior Fed Cup team as the No.1 player, ahead of Sally Peers (No.2) and Olivia Rogowska (No.3). Now both Peers and Rogowska have made the second round of a Grand Slam, beating top 100 players in straight sets. Both have also had the opportunity to play one of the top two in the world on the biggest stage in tennis (Arthur Ashe Stadium).
Hopefully she can get out of this rut and hit some solid form by the end of the season. The race for MD WCs into the Aussie Open is entirely open and she still has a shot at getting one despite a horror season. Here's hoping she can salvage something.
And Shayna, I'm going to throw it out there now and say Shayna will end the year ranked around 350 and she'll have a good run at the playoff in December, meaning she will be one to get a MD WC for the Aussie Open

Re: Australian Money Tournament Circuit
Wow that is a strong looking AMT . Nice to see Shayna picking up some decent prize money. I also think that she will do well in the Aussie ITF's.

Has she ever played AO MD? I think that she has a shot but only if Dokic, Molik and Ferguson get in on their own rankings (and no more top players decide to make random comebacks at AO). That leaves Olivia, Jess, Sally + Marija? and Shayna?

Re: Australian Money Tournament Circuit
Wow Shayna, she's got some unfinished business it would seem Certainly has the goods to make top 300 easy. I'm just concerned her body won't hold up.
Shayna has played AO qualifying a couple of times (no wins) but has never played the MD. She's going to have to win an Aussie ITF (or at least go far in several of them) and do very well in the play off to be considered, but she's capable

Re: Australian Money Tournament Circuit
Thanks for posting the AMT results. A double-bagel against Starr? Pretty impressive results...
A bit premature to be speculating on AO WCs... there are an awful lot of Aussie ITFs between now n the playoffs... (but fun to do, none the less )

Re: Australian Money Tournament Circuit
Great for Shayna - but its a sad state of affairs for Bai, Holland and Starr. All three have fell away so much in the last 18 months.

Re: Australian Money Tournament Circuit
For the record, Sophie smashed Shayna 7-6(0) 6-0 in the final...
Still stand by my earlier "prediction" as such...hope Shayna can do it and (more importantly) her body holds up!!
