Re: Tracy Austin: Serena's improbable run to end
When Venus beat Maria (tremendously) in that wimbledon semi final, she gave all credit to Serena, because Serena gave her the game plan and stratergy. Serena is very smart, and probably knows what she has to do to win. I'm only concerned about her conditioning, not any of her strokes.
She's not covering as much ground as id like to to be in matches, but undoubtedly she is extra motivated for this match, and will not want to give t away. She'll fight for this.

A poor attempt at wit. Serena is very much a thinker in tennis.

Serena, once again, read this before your match

Re: Tracy Austin: Serena's improbable run to end
Didn't Tracy Austin say something like this about Venus Williams losing to Maria Sharapova in WImbledon 2005?

Even better, I hope she reads Sharapova's post match interview.

Re: Tracy Austin: Serena's improbable run to end
Ok, 9 categories. Out of that, she decided:
Sharapova: 4
Serena: 2
even: 3
One can't fail to notice that where Sharapova is ahead, it's always due to Serena's lack of match play (check Tracy's wording). Well, so far, Serena has amazed us and indeed dispelled somewhat the effect of that lack of match play. So, on that basis alone, I think the balance should swing to Serena's side.
And BTW I don't discount the fact that Rena can get fitter.

Re: Tracy Austin: Serena's improbable run to end
What I mean is that Maria is at 90% (in her semi) and that Serena is at around ... 55%

Re: Tracy Austin: Serena's improbable run to end
RETURN OF SERVE
Williams used to have one of the best returns in the game, but it is not quite "on" yet.
Sharapova is returning a lot better than she used to, and she is being smarter about choosing when to go for her returns too.
EDGE: SHARAPOVA
Even I don't agree with this one and I'm a big Masha's fan.

Re: Tracy Austin: Serena's improbable run to end
New potential poll question:
How far is Tracy's head up Maria's ass?
Any ideas for answers?

Re: Tracy Austin: Serena's improbable run to end
Before the tournament the overwhelming favourite to take the title was Kim Clijsters. At times yesterday, Kimster was made to look very ordinary by the no. 1 seed. I expect Sharapova to win the final.

Re: Tracy Austin: Serena's improbable run to end
Tracy in incorrect on the serve which Sharapova's has been vulnerable all tournament and is nowhere in the same league as Serena.. Serena's forehand and return of serve is better... Tracy should know better than this.. I hope Serena thrashes her!! Because I read the article before coming to the site and saw how biased it was!!!
