Re: Forget the clay, Lucie's on grass!

Very excited for the grass season!

Not sure where to post this, but I wonder why the sub-forum is named 'Lucie's Lookout'. Interested to know if there's a good reason for it.

To me 'Lovely Lucie' always seemed more fitting.

No. 6 - I love it when good things happen to good people. I hope she has a cracking grass season and Nike gives her a better deal too.

If you consider that it could have been renamed to Safarova Supernova, I think Lucie's Lookout is perfectly fine. Though I gotta say that iPatty's idea (I love Lucie to death) sounds rather appealing to me (I don't remember how I felt about it in 2007).

btw. Lucie is not playing Birmingham, so fingers crossed for Eastbourne and most importantly SW19 where we know she has a semifinal to defend.

I'm surprised too, wasn't Eastbourne supposed to be the event infamous for tanking due to Richard Branson's Pre-Wimbledon Player's Party?

Petra as well as Lucie is only playing Eastbourne and skipped Birmingham. I wonder whether they will stay for the whole tournament.

I read through the threads, interesting to see that there weren't too many respondents. Lucie didn't have a huge following then, though you were still there.

'I love Lucie to death' sounds like a bit of a mouthful, though it is funny!

'Safarova Survivors'/'Surviving Safarova Stans' are other names I thought of considering the ordeal Lucie fans go through following each and every match. They might be really bad so I don't mind the criticism.

I'm used to 'Lucie's Lookout', but don't mind trying to see if there's something new and fresh. Thinking about other words beginning with L too - no success so far.

If it wasn't for a few impressive results at the start of 2007 (wins over Mauresmo, Vaidisova, Kuznetsova and Henin) I think Lucie would have an even smaller fanbase at the time. Plus there was rarely any poster who had Lucie as their number one fave in 2007.
For me she was always the most likeable czech girl so I stay connected (despite hardly posting from 2010 to 2014)

Re: Forget the clay, Lucie's on grass!

Cibulkova the likely opponent, though this is her first tournament back from injury after Antwerp.

H2H 1-3. It will be difficult, but Lucie's only win came at Wimbledon last year and it is their most recent match. Turn that H2H around!

Re: Forget the clay, Lucie's on grass!

It completely depends on Lucie tbh and how well she is actually prepared to play a match and win it...seems like she had a nice break for a while and I dunno how much grass court practice she has

Re: Forget the clay, Lucie's on grass!

She just played really bad...had a million chances and refused to take any of them. 2 SPs in the first set TB, had a simple put away at 7-7 in the TB and lost the point and the TB...had like 5 BPs in the 2nd set and took none. She looked kind of like she didn't really care to try, her timing was way out, footwork was bad...only thing that was acceptable was her serve (12 aces). Return was as bad as ever...not every return needs to be a winner

Obviously needed to do more work in that break rather than just doing media stuff.
