Jessica Moore gets final Aust Open Wildcard!
Peter Luczak and Jessica Moore have been granted the final wildcards to next week's Australian Open in Melbourne.
This will be the 27-year-old Luczak's fifth Australian Open main draw appearance having twice reached the third round, most recently last year where he lost to Tommy Haas.
The Victorian showed early form this year by pulling off a surprise win in the round robin stage of the Adelaide International against world No.21 Dominik Hrbaty after victory over Argentine Martin Vassallo Arguello in the main draw of the elimination round.
Luczak played his first live Davis Cup rubber for Australia in February last year in the successful first round Tie against Switzerland in Geneva where he defeated Michael Lammer in the opening rubber.
He followed that up later in September with an impressive Davis Cup performance in the semifinal against Argentina in Buenos Aires.
Sixteen-year-old Moore will be playing in her first Australian Open main draw.
A rising star in Australian women's tennis, she won the wildcard playoff at the Optus 18s National Championships in December.
This earned her a spot into the Australian Open wildcard playoff the following week where she again reached the final, eventually losing to the more experienced Alicia Molik in a hard fought encounter.
The eight Australian Open men's and women's main draw wildcards are:
MEN: Robert Smeets (Qld), Alun Jones (ACT), Sam Querry (US), Go Soeda (Jpn), Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (Fra), Chris Guccione (Vic), Wayne Arthurs (Vic), Peter Luczak (Vic).
WOMEN: Alicia Molik (SA), Casey Dellacqua (WA), Madison Brengle (USA), Iroda Tulyaganova (UZB), Youlia Fedossova (Fra), Sophie Ferguson (NSW), Monique Adamczak (NSW), Jessica Moore (WA).
