Re: The Evgenia Linetskaya Thread
Very surprising, but given her track record, I'll believe it only when she starts a match.
If, unexpectedly, she will take part in this 10K, I'll be actually surprised if she doesn't win it, even after 4 years without play. We've seen these comebacks in higher levels, and she's got more skills than the rest of the field combined.
But I'm not getting my hopes too high.

Re: The Evgenia Linetskaya Thread
Q1: Evgenia LINETSKAYA (ISR) 6-1 6-0 Marianna NATALI (ITA)
Q2: Tena LUKAS (CRO) [4] 4-6 6-2 6-4 Evgenia LINETSKAYA (ISR)
I don't know what is more shocking: that she actually played or that she didn't make it through qualies...
Now, is it the start of a comeback or a flash in the pan?

Re: The Evgenia Linetskaya Thread
the day of her loss she withdrew from all the tournaments she was listed in for the coming weeks, including a late withdrawal from the qualies in turkey for next week. That doesn't seem like she's very determined, but we'll see if she comes back after a couple of weeks.

Re: The Evgenia Linetskaya Thread
As much as we'd like to see her performing a miraculous come back, the chances of her starting and maintaining a stable
professional tennis player's life, is not higher than zero.

Re: The Evgenia Linetskaya Thread
Doing better in Hvar, Croatia 10k qualies so far:
Q1: Evgenia LINETSKAYA (ISR) 2-6 6-2 7-5 Blaga DELIC (CRO)
Q2: Evgenia LINETSKAYA (ISR) 6-1 6-1 Kristina ALILOVIC (SWE)
Q3: Evgenia LINETSKAYA (ISR) 7-6(2) 6-3 Giada CLERICI (ITA)
She still needs to win one more match in order to qualify (Against 1st seed)
and then she has to win the 1st round match in the maindraw to get her first point.
So still a lot of work but she's still playing, so we'll see

Re: The Evgenia Linetskaya Thread
2nd round she will play against (Q)Petra Rohanova (CZE) who defeated the 3rd seed.
If she wins the tournament (still a long way to go, I know) she could enter the ranking list next week already.
The rule says a player needs points from 3 tournaments, or 10 points or more. a 10k tournament win is worth 12 points.

And than?
Will she change her character and be able to commit?

I'm not sure it's exclusively a character problem. I think life circumstances had something to do with it as well.
If she's in a better place now than she was before in her life, maybe it will be easier for her to persist

Let's hope so for her sake, and for the Israeli tennis future.
Her potential is very high.
