Re: the kumiko iijima cheering thread

But I think this is the first time she win two match in a row !
She beat Osterloh 6/2 4/6 7/5
( she was leading 5/2 in the third set but ...)
Fujiwara or Manasieva is next
they are 6/6, third set at the moment! )

Re: the kumiko iijima cheering thread

Kumiko leads the head to head against Rika 1-0, when Rika was making her comeback last year.

I like Rika very much, but I am supporting Kumiko .

Kumiko lost, but she had an excellent run and she already achieved a lot.

Re: the kumiko iijima cheering thread

what a great effort for her in winbledon qualies, i honestly never expected her to make the cut in qualies let alone make it to the final round. hopefully she keeps working hard and improving her rank!

Re: the kumiko iijima cheering thread

Yep, lets hope her ranking goes up!
She's another really nice person.
At qualifying, they have the draws and schedule on printed paper and the Guide dogs for the Blind, a charity that supplies seeing dogs, have a tent and have the sheets and when you go into the event, you pick up the draw and give some change to them.
They always have a few dogs for people to fuss over and on her way out Kumiko saw them and spent ages, stroking them! The dogs really loved her and when she got up to go they started to follow her!!
I told her I think they've adopted you and she said she wish she could have them all!
Go Kumiko!

Re: the kumiko iijima cheering thread

It was her birthday yesterday. Happy birthday Kumi-chan.

She's playing very well at $100,000 Taipei this week:

1RD: def. Liu 63, 46, 64
2RD: def. Chuang 63, 64
QFS: vs. Lertcheewakarn

If she wins she has a good shot of returning back into the top 200. Go Kumiko!
