Well MacDonalds is not very popular over here in Belgium. I think it's the only country in the world where MacDonalds doesn't make profit. Probably because we have our own fastfood restaurant, Quick.
The two domains where American culture is still overwhelming is music and film. Almost all popular films over here are American but I must say that American influence on music has diminshed in recent years although American groups and singers are still very popular.

I don't mind having a McDonalds eveywhere its part of British culture now.I personally don't like McDonalds food anymore it makes me feel sick every time i see it!
I agree about the film thing all films in the UK seem to have been made by America!Useually every now and again there a few British films out,a few indian and a few european-very rear though!
But if you think anout it America is the heart of the western world without it i doubt the rest of us would survive!

I don't really notice it. The American and Brtish way of life seem so intertwined that I rarely notice a difference.
The only thing that hasn't taken off in Britain must the the American cars. Although Chrysler seem to be more and more popular on the roads.
McDonald's are on every corner. A high street is nothing without a McDonald's. I prefer Burger King myself, but they are American too, no?

I don't think it's overwhelming, for some reason it's overwhelmingly embraced by the rest of the world - well UK teenagers anyway.

I try not to eat food from resturants. Hehe.
I'm rather used to American culture myself, being in America and all. But really American culture is just a combination of other cultures, so what's the big deal?

Well I live In Canada, and people tend to assume we have no culture, and are just Americans in disguise
However, seeing as our cultures are essentially the exact same thing, I have little choice but to live with it
So I'm used to the fast paced, more-money-more-money-more-money culture

Joshua, we don't really have a fastfood/takeaway culture here in Belgium. There are a few MacDonald's and other fastfood restaurants (not those you mentioned) but the only popular one is Quick.

It's probably not just fastfood, but stuff like nike, clothing labels, music, cars, the accent, etc etc etc.
