Re: Your tennis results?!

Just got done playing the closest thing to Martina Hingis I've ever witnessed on court. Excruciatingly tough match, but squeaked out a win in the end.
3-6, 6-3, 7-5

I am exhausted. That fucker killed me with dropshot and lob combos .

Re: Your tennis results?!

Playing up in my club singles session... I'm a tencap 68 on paper and I'd say, at this point, a solid 3.0 USTA player. Last week I got the first set off a woman ranked significantly higher, but my legs were dead from softball practice the day before, so bageled the second set and lost the third set tie-break 10-6.

Last night, played a woman that I'd previously lost to 6-7, 4-6. Pulled out a 7-5, 7-6(7-5) victory. She's not super mobile, so I did my best to focus on making her move, getting her out of position, etc. Match was indoors and it was the first time I'd played in humid conditions this year, so it was a challenge. I'm notoriously bad at losing close sets and TBs, so it was nice to pull this win out. Supposed to be playing doubles tonight, but as of now, we've only got 6 people. Offered to play singles...hoping there's a taker! LOL

Re: Your tennis results?!

I finally lost a match There goes my 10 match win streak

Lost 6-7(6-8), 6-3, 0-1(9-11)
Can I just say I FUCKING HATE 3rd set tiebreakers. My opponent had 2 lucky netcords, one ON MATCHPOINT
I would have won if we played a full 3rd set, no doubt. Ugh, I'm seething.

Re: Your tennis results?!

Bummer on the loss! I hate third set tie-breaks too. My fitness is better than most that I play, so I definitely lose that advantage!

Doubles went well. got up 3-0, my partner decided to cruise, and suddenly we were tied 3-3, down 0-40 on my serve. I told myself enough was enough, fired off a series of good serves, including two aces, and we didn't lose a game after. 6-3, 6-0.

Tonight is clinic. Gotta keep working on my game!

Yeah 3rd set tbs are bs.
Anyway, won a ladder match today 6-4, 7-5. I was down 2-5 in the 2nd set and won 5 straight games to win. Like a baws

Re: Your tennis results?!

Well someone finally responsed to me but it's for a 3.5 team and although I've never played in a USTA league before, I'm worried I'm a 4.0 and I won't be allowed to play in their team

Re: Your tennis results?!

Played the same friend who always murders me. Lost the 1st set 6-2 like usual not holding serve He just hits the ball way too hard. I can't cope with the pace and if I do get to a ball I'm not even in position and it's a shank or I blast it into the back fence

Second set I was holding easily and hitting well. At 2-1* (his serve) he asks if we can do a short day, because he wasn't feeling well. He said he still wanted to keep playing though. And it all made sense why I was doing better. He was hitting softer, and not running for as many balls as usual. I won it 6-2, but I don't even count it because he wasn't well and he went to the doctor the next day and found out he has strep throat . So I've still only ever won 2 sets against him

Re: Your tennis results?!

Was up 5-3 and deuce on my opponents serve playing really good tennis, winners left and right, then choked it away to 5*-6. Held after 30-0 to 30 all with two clutch serves

Went down 4-0, and 6-2 in tiebreak losing it 7-3.

Lost first game of second set on return at deuce blasting return winners and errors left and right. Then won the next six games in a row playing some pretty crazy points. I hit this one shot at deuce after my opponent smashed a overhead crosscourt and was literally on the next court and flicked a crosscourt forehand without even looking and it landed right on the line. He threw his racket in disgust and like I could not have done anything about it and it felt so good.

The third set I started to get tight again and I saved 30-40 on my serve in every service game with a service winner or ace. He was like 0/8 on bps that set. I won it 6-0 after he shanked a forehand volley wide on both bp and mp.

Went on to win my next match 6-0 6-0 in about 40 minutes pushing the ball like crazy and bored out of my mind. I lost less than 10 points each set and saved the two break points I faced.

Re: Your tennis results?!

Playing 1 sets again, I came back today after being sick the last two days and having not hit a ball for 3 weeks...

It was what I expected-after a 10 minute warm up I was still an error machine and everything I hit went out. In doubles I was playing extremely horible and my partner was playing average. we held to start with, but lost the next 3 games due my errors. We held to 2-3, than the guy df'd twice to go 0-30, but they won the next 4 points. They broke my serve and then they were serving for the match. Finally I started playing relatively well down MP, and we won the game. But my partner df once and they played good shots and won 6-3.

Then I had singles, and I was playing better slightly. I was playing against a really annoying guy who didn't have power, but retrieved well and hit past me, and tried wrong footing me. I went 4-1 really quickly, drop shotting loads and hitting past him if he got the dropshot. But something happened and I made mistakes and began to lose confidence in my shots, and not hitting them like I should in case they went out. he got back to 4-4 40-15, with him serving, and I was super annoyed with myself. But then I saved those two gp and ended up having the biggest game in my life. where I saved 9 game points in duece, before getting a break point. There were so many times I could've lost that game... Then I served it out 6-4(though he had a bp for 5-5, I don't think I could've handed 5-5)

Re: Your tennis results?!

Had my first flex league match tonight. Couldn't quite get started in the first set, went down 0-5 after having BP on all of my opponents service games I finally held serve and got on the board for 1-5. In the 7th game, after 3 deuce points, I hit a FH ROS winner for BP and he DF'd for 2-5. Serving at 2-5 I hit 2 DFs and 1 BH error to go down 0-40 and couldn't keep the ball in play in the next rally lost the set 2-6.

Starting the 2nd set we both held serve to start. I got broken after a tight game for 1-2 and they held on for 3-1. I Couldn't get a 1st serve in and got broken again for 4-1. After this I literally said to myself "Fuck this do not take a breadstick" In the next game I started running around my BH and hitting all my ROS with my FH and hit some deep returns to break 2-4. I held easily for 3-4 probably on the momentum of the previous game but mostly on his ROS errors, I got all the way back to 4-4 and in the 9th game I can't keep a return in play. I serve down 4-5 and proceed to hit 3 DFs and a FH error all in a row I lost 2-6 4-6 but it was the most fun I've had playing sports in a really long time. Can't wait to play my next match.

That's almost as bad as the time that I had a tournament that was an hour away from my house that had a match rain delayed over three days. I ended up winning that fuckery of a match in a third set super tiebreaker, but seriously. 3 Days. Then after that match finished I only got half an hour of rest before going out and playing the next one. Ridiculous the amount of time I spent driving versus on court.

Re: Your tennis results?!

Started getting back into properly practicing again today after the rain earlier this week and hardly being on court last week, and 5 minutes into the session my upper back and right shoulder just completely went, I even had trouble breathing deeply. I tried playing some doubles later in the day, and when I went for a reflex volley it hurt so badly out of nowhere that I thought I had somehow managed to break my shoulder. Something is telling me that I should take some time off.
