Venus truly is awesome. She had her best winning streaks (35 in '00, 23 in '01/'02) when I believe the WTATour was at its greatest "quality" depth. Seles was playing her best tnenis since her prime, Davenport was reaching consecutive GS finals, Hingis was #1 and playing great, Kournikova, Capriati, Serena, Martinez, Pierce, Sanchez-Vicario, and others were performing greatly.
And Venus beat them all. LOL.

Re: amazing winning streaks
If you are counting winning streaks from 1995, then how come Steffi's 32 match win streak is not listed?

Re: amazing winning streaks
I believe that Martina made 40 matches winning streak before she loses to Ivo Majoli in French Open Final in 1997!

I agree with his observation. Venus' Grandslam runs during that time were unbelievable Martina then Serena then Lindsay. I'm just wondering these matches include Olympics why not include Fed cup matches as well?
Martina would have 38 matches straight then with these included in between her Paris and Miami tournaments:
FED CUP WORLD GRP 1
FC, VARIOUS, March 2, 1997, $ 0 , MIXED (M)
Draw: 34M/0Q/16D, Rank: 0, Seed/Entry: /Q
Rnd Opponent Rank W/L Score
Q- R1 H2H STUDENIKOVA, KATARINA W 6-1 6-3
Q- R1 H2H HABSUDOVA, KARINA W 6-2 6-0
P.S. if Martina didn't lose to Iva Majoli she would have had a 58 straight match win streak!!!! Dumb horse riding....
oh i got this friday her wta profile: " Undisputed world No.1, her 12 titles and .938 winning percentage the best of any player in the 1990s; began year with 37 wins, equaling second-best season start all-time with Navratilova in 1978 (Graf 45-0 in 1987); so she has indeed started 1997 with a 37 win match streak not 36. :P

Re: amazing winning streaks
Why is Hopman Cup 2003 included in Serena's streak? Isn't this tournament generally regarded as an exhibition?
