Re: Kaia Kanepi Cheering Thread!!!

Kaia beats King 46 76(4) 61

My god, the 1st set Kaia had just horrible stats. In 2nd she went down 0-2, 3-4* but managed to come out of it. 3rd set looks just beautiful compared to the first two sets Important she got the WIN, it's been a while (maybe even a bit too long, but I guess they know what they're doing).

anyone without match practice for nearly two months is bound to be rusty. what's bugging me is why did she choose to skip all pre-USO tournaments? i hear her ankles are fine.

good luck in the second round!

Not so sure about that A bit different outcome of the points in TB and it would have been ticket to home. But yeah, luckily it went the other way and the third set seemed quite good already.

Good luck for the next match! Probably no video stream again, still in the stone-age compared to Wimbledon where they streamed at least 10 courts or so..

BTW, Schmiedlova is currently leading Vögele 61 30
And the next opponent for Kaia is indeed Schmiedlova who won 61 57 76.

Still not a single word about the situation or some sentences before and after the first match (she had all day because it was morning in US). Not surprising this forum is so quiet because this behaviour is ridiculous. Good luck to her but I can't tolerate this at all.

Re: Kaia Kanepi Cheering Thread!!!

There are now two sentences on her webpage: felt insecure due to lack of match practice (now who's fault is this ), tried to hang in there in the 2nd set, in the 3rd she played better and the opponent gave back a little.

my sources say she's sick and tired of interference by her sponsor. apparently the no-show at the uso series was her protest of sorts. arguably her latest coach's been dismissed as well. it's incredibly unprofessional if that's true. time to divorce from tallink, again.

on the few photos i saw t'day, she seems to have lost weight further. surely it's a good thing given her leg injuries and all, but how does that sync with her power play? power = mass * acceleration.

Oh dear.. Trouble after trouble after trouble, if it's not injury then it's quarrelling with Pant or coaches and vice versa..

Re: Kaia Kanepi Cheering Thread!!!

that's why I kept my mouth shut for all that time. I mean this. c'mon, she is pro tennis player and makes her own choices. I am happy she came tru and is playing tennis again. it's not easy to come back after you have had enough of tensions. also she needed some rest after all coming back after an injury and taking a month off is nothing that should be called unprofessional.

Her sponsors are being ridiculous. I hope it will not interfere with her tennis And has Tamla been fired/did they make her fire him

BTW, she looks almost too skinny in the photo of her at US Open She looks different in a dress I think I prefer her in Brussels outfit

BTW, why doesn't she have a clothing sponsor?

Also, thank god she won

if the alleged rift with the sponsor is true (based on rumour, not fact), it is definitely unprofessional to let this matter ruin kaia's uso prospects and a chance to break into top 10. sadly the incompetence of her background forces reflects on kaia.

note that it's almost two months off since wimbledon, and yes, while i agree about having to take a break, etc., i find it ill-advised not get any match-play experience before a slam IF she's fit to play. the girl has potential to win a slam. she's 28 and in the shape of her life. not showing up for events where she could get some valuable match-play experience (and no points to defend) because of a feud in her back office is not smart.

i am sure she wants to call her own shots. dammit, she SHOULD be calling her own shots -- it's her life and career -- but i wonder if she has perhaps signed some stupid sponsorship agreement that enables a third party intervene a bit too much? my own view is if sponsors become a hassle (and it seems to be the case), drop them and get on with it. she did pretty well on her own last time around. kaia's got so many supporters in estonia, she can surely sign up new sponsors if need be.

of course i wish her well; have been a big fan since she appeared as a promising junior and continue being one despite the circumstances.

This. I really think she needs to live her life and especially her career her own way It's the only way she will achieve what she wants and can
