Poem: God Bless Berlin!
I remember your country.....Germany
Berlin, Germany
Capital city, nations capital
The heart of your country
I remember Berlin.
In history class...........Mr. Cummings
Tall, anglo-saxon, white eyebrows and hair
He taught me
........about Berlin
Berlin, Germany........eighth grade.
I learned of the Jewish people
The people who loved and hated them
The invasion, loss of life and and the men
women and children who suffered in Europe, before and after the Red Army
Entered. Did I mention the wall which divided.
A proud, strong, and beautiful people......Germany
Recovered unity with the fall of the wall
Recovered dignity, a people, a power to the world!
Now tennis is played there - something we all love on this board
God Bless Berlin....Berlin, Germany.
GOD BLESS BERLIN
I wrote this poem because I thank God for Berlin and remember the struggle of this city. I thank God that the city and its people overcame so much, although my history lesson never focused on that.......the people of city. Now the city can host one of the largest clay-court tournaments in the world, and allow people from different nations to compete there. God Bless Berlin, Germany.
