Justine Given Green Light To Play Miami: "No Pain"
Excerpt from her official website:
"Justine was given the greenlight, and had a good test run on Tuesday with a practice session with no pain. The Belgian champion will play her first match this Friday against the winner of Meghann Shaughnessy versus Mara Santangelo to be played today (Wednesday)."

What does that have to do with Miami???? I know that may seem a little far beyond your grasp, but I like to allow the mentally-challenged an opportunity to explain themselves.

Yeah, I get the feeling there are a few here that was counting on Justine withdrawing so their favs might have a better chance of going further in the draw.
Some of them are participating in this thread.
Too bad

Speaking for myself (I had the same first thought), I would think "what it has to do with Miami" is fairly obvious.
Athletes sometimes chose not to share all the gory details about injuries they may have - and any weaknesses in their games that might result - for strategic purposes. Its perfectly reasonable. Why let an opponent know you're having trouble with your serve/backhand/movement/whatever and give them ideas about what and how to attack? Judging by Australia, I'd say Justine is one of those athletes. She may be telling the truth, or she may just not feel like helping the women on the other side of the net.
I'm not sure why pointing that out requires such a knee-jerk reaction.
If she really is pain free, I certainly hope she stays that way. I just won't take a press release's word for it.

No where on her official website "press release" does Justine claim that she's not injured. In fact, she states she is "pain free", and sought medical advice as to whether or not she is fit to play in Miami. Of course, everyone saw on national television that her knee was giving her problems during the final at IW.
Yet, I still don't see the parallels between the AO and Miami. Considering that what happened in Australia appeared to be that of acute illness caused from taking oral medications (stomach ulcer) and not injury, there's absolutely no connection. I just don't see it.
In fact, when the person mentioned AO with a " ", it was appearant to me they didn't get IT either.
Considering that so many play with injuries and have battled injuries over the years (like Amelie Mauresmo for example), it should be considered "good" news when they say they are "pain free", instead of the obligatory " ".
Wouldn't you say?

Well, at least Justine is tough enough to play through her injuries and the competition. Its not like she retired because of injury and the growing competition, only to wait three years to try a comeback.
